Christine:

Hello and welcome to The Mirror Project.

2

:

We are your hosts, Christine,

3

:

Alexandra: and Alexandra.

4

:

Christine: and we're

thrilled to have you with us.

5

:

Summer always has a way of bringing

us back to ourselves, doesn't it?

6

:

The long days, the warm nights, the

familiar smells of sunscreen, fresh fruit,

7

:

and something sizzling on the grill.

8

:

I can hear it now.

9

:

In this episode, Alexandra and I are

taking a moment to pause and reflect

10

:

on the magic of the season, what we

loved growing up, what we're looking

11

:

forward to now, and how we're hoping

to slow things down and savor it all.

12

:

is our love letter to summer from

beach days and backyard barbecues

13

:

to new adventures, favorite recipes

and small but meaningful rituals.

14

:

So whether you're listening poolside on a

road trip, or just dreaming of your next

15

:

Sunny Escape, we hope this conversation

feels like a breath of warm, fresh air.

16

:

Let's get into it.

17

:

think the perfect place to start,

and Alexandra, correct me if I'm

18

:

wrong, is to reflect on past summers.

19

:

What do you think I.

20

:

Alexandra: I think it's

a great place to start.

21

:

Christine: Okay, cool.

22

:

So why don't you kick us off, share

some summertime memories, maybe

23

:

some, something that you look back

on fondly or some favorite thing that

24

:

you always loved to do growing up?

25

:

Alexandra: Okay, well if we go back into

the recesses of my mind and memory, I feel

26

:

like from a very young age, my parents put

me in a lot of like summer camps during,

27

:

you know, when school was out of session.

28

:

And I remember,

29

:

I don't know how often I did it,

like I definitely think I did it a

30

:

few years, but there was this place

called Los Cab and it was kind of

31

:

like a hodgepodge of activities there.

32

:

And I feel like it was quite a few weeks.

33

:

There was anything from like arts and

crafts and I don't know if you've ever

34

:

done that plasticy string that's kind

of flat and rectangular and you would,

35

:

you know, braid it in a sense to do so.

36

:

I learned to do that there.

37

:

Got really good at like different

styles and techniques and that was fun.

38

:

There was pool days, soccer, indoor

things like self-defense, like it was, I.

39

:

I think there was some like gymnastic

stuff, so it was like a lot of kids from

40

:

like very young to very like teenagers.

41

:

So it was a wild, it was a wild ride.

42

:

And I remember it being slightly chaotic.

43

:

But it was fun.

44

:

And then I loved pool days and at

the time there was tennis camps and

45

:

soccer camps when I was really young.

46

:

And then when I kind of stuck with

TaeKwonDo, there are always two

47

:

summer camps that I would go to.

48

:

I think there was one in

July and one in August.

49

:

So those took up a lot of time.

50

:

I tried beach volleyball for a while.

51

:

There was a couple camps and then I

remember a couple, one summer I think I

52

:

did two sailing camps in Newport Beach.

53

:

And that was a lot of fun.

54

:

There were some funny moments.

55

:

I so, we were sailing like Lido fourteens

and at the end of the day, like we

56

:

had to pull them up onto a dry dock.

57

:

And I remember it was like, there was

about three of us to every Lito 14.

58

:

And it was my turn to take the bow line

and jump onto the dock and pull it up.

59

:

And I missed the dock by that much.

60

:

And so I hit the dock

61

:

Christine: Ooh,

62

:

Alexandra: fall into the water

and I'm just fling around.

63

:

And I remember my best friend's mom at

the time was like there before my mom was.

64

:

And she, I looked over and she

was just busting a gut laughing.

65

:

It was hilarious.

66

:

But it was quite, that was quite funny.

67

:

And then some just really,

68

:

Christine: were okay.

69

:

Alexandra: yeah, I think it

would've been different if there

70

:

been blood in the water and stuff.

71

:

But no, I was fine.

72

:

It was just a very oh, look at Alexander

being Alexander kind of moment.

73

:

But in many ways it's felt

like summer was never ending.

74

:

Growing up in Southern California,

in Huntington Beach for quite a while

75

:

lived about two miles from the beach.

76

:

So it was easy to walk or bike to.

77

:

So it kind of felt like

summer was all year round.

78

:

And so I do miss some of the sunsets.

79

:

I miss the ease of walking to the beach

and like the smell of sun, sand and surf.

80

:

And it's funny when you mentioned in

our intro the smell of sunscreen, it is

81

:

quite a a visceral memory cue to smell

sunscreen, go, like you're instantly

82

:

transported back to certain memories.

83

:

Christine: And I don't know about you,

but for me, the sunscreen smell, I

84

:

smell and I think it's just, 'cause

growing up, that's what my mom used.

85

:

Coppertone sunscreen.

86

:

I think I, I feel like a lot, maybe,

I don't know about the younger

87

:

generation, but that's the sunscreen,

like when I think of sunscreen,

88

:

that's the smell that comes to mind.

89

:

And, yeah, it's, it is kind of cool

how like sense can trigger memories.

90

:

There's a feeling of nostalgia,

91

:

That.

92

:

Alexandra: So what did you love

about your summers of past?

93

:

What do you remember?

94

:

Christine: So for me, like you

were just saying, summer's always

95

:

like for you, they never felt

96

:

Alexandra: I.

97

:

Christine: ended for me, they always felt

like a time of endless possibilities.

98

:

The days are longer, the nights

were full of catching lightning

99

:

bugs or stargazing in the backyard.

100

:

I and as a kid, that's

what you live for, right?

101

:

Is 'cause there's no school and

it's like summer could last forever.

102

:

But you know, you were

talking about camps.

103

:

You did.

104

:

I did, did camps as well.

105

:

I'm trying to think back because

growing up my mom didn't go

106

:

back to work until I was, I.

107

:

In fourth or fifth grade.

108

:

So she was home a lot.

109

:

So we didn't do a whole lot of camps.

110

:

We went to the, we did some, but

we went to the town pool a lot.

111

:

so, and then one summer we were,

I think you could sign up to be

112

:

on the swim team at the town pool.

113

:

So I did

114

:

One summer.

115

:

That was kind of cool, figured

out I was decent swimmer.

116

:

I never got first place in any races,

but I got second place in some,

117

:

Alexandra: Nice.

118

:

What kind of swim stroke

did you like best?

119

:

Christine: I think my best

stroke was breast stroke and

120

:

freestyle, maybe butterfly.

121

:

I was a, I was like a

dead fish in the water.

122

:

I don't understand how you do that stroke.

123

:

It's sort of like patting your tummy,

rubbing your tummy and patting your

124

:

head at the same time because your arms

are doing one thing and, but you have

125

:

to keep your legs together doing an.

126

:

The weirdest stroke ever.

127

:

I don't know.

128

:

So that must have been a, like a

torture device someone came up with.

129

:

I don't know,

130

:

Alexandra: And then I'm like,

this should be mainstream.

131

:

Christine: exactly.

132

:

And then one summer, my sister Nicole

and I, we did go to a sleep boy

133

:

And it was actually at a campground that

we would go to with our dad for, that

134

:

father daughter group we were a part of.

135

:

It was called Adventure Guides.

136

:

so that's how we became

familiar with the campground.

137

:

And they do this camp in the summertime

called ISTC, which stands for

138

:

International Sports Training Camp.

139

:

So you did a slew of sports, soccer,

basketball, archery, rock climbing

140

:

swimming, was a whole bunch to do.

141

:

and it was a sleepaway

camp, so it was a week long.

142

:

And I went with Nicole.

143

:

was still too young at the time.

144

:

I'm trying to remember what age I was.

145

:

I can't remember.

146

:

I think maybe 10 around that age,

147

:

Not much older.

148

:

and that was a lot of fun.

149

:

We only did the one time, I think,

I don't know, I'd have to ask

150

:

Nicole what her experience was like.

151

:

There was,

152

:

you know, I think it was like the

quintessential camp experience.

153

:

You know, there was like the drama

of who's dating who or who likes who.

154

:

And there was a dance

at the end of the week.

155

:

So

156

:

Alexandra: And you know what it

makes me think of when you were

157

:

saying sleepaway camp is, the movie,

the Parent Trap with Lindsay Lohan.

158

:

And I feel like if I think of a movie as

a kid during the summertime, I feel like

159

:

that is the movie that my mind goes to.

160

:

Christine: that is a good one.

161

:

That is a good one.

162

:

The only difference in the

camp was that was was co-ed,

163

:

Alexandra: It's true.

164

:

Yes.

165

:

And you did not find a

long lost twin, did you?

166

:

Christine: I did not, unfortunately,

167

:

Alexandra: Dang.

168

:

Christine: I had my actual sister with me.

169

:

Alexandra: The before we hop off onto our

next topic or you get into another part

170

:

of summer, do you, did you ever watch the

movie Sleep, the Sleepover or sleepover

171

:

with oh my gosh, all the names of

172

:

Christine: jane Lynch is the mom.

173

:

Right.

174

:

And then the girl from

Shark, the girl from

175

:

Alexandra: yes.

176

:

And I think Shark, shark Boy, lava Girl,

177

:

Christine: I don't know if she was in that

178

:

Alexandra: she wasn't

179

:

Christine: looks very similar.

180

:

Alexandra: Okay.

181

:

Christine: We'd have to look it up.

182

:

But yeah, I loved that movie.

183

:

Alexandra: I feel like that's

like a goodbye to school.

184

:

Hello Summer kind of movie.

185

:

Christine: Definitely.

186

:

Definitely.

187

:

Yeah.

188

:

Actually I think I was I was on like

TikTok or Instagram morning and I

189

:

saw a clip from it, that scene where

she's on the skateboard trying to get

190

:

home and she like crosses in front of

191

:

The boy, she likes his car

192

:

Alexandra: And he's

193

:

Christine: finally sees

her for the first time.

194

:

Yeah, exactly.

195

:

It's pretty, it's a pretty awesome moment.

196

:

Alexandra: I feel like maybe one night

this summer we'll have to do like

197

:

a video movie night or something.

198

:

Watch the same movie and chat about it.

199

:

That'd be fun.

200

:

Christine: that.

201

:

I think that would be really cute.

202

:

Like a little nostalgia,

203

:

Alexandra: Yeah.

204

:

Christine: Throwback episode.

205

:

I like that.

206

:

That's really fun.

207

:

Alexandra: What else was about your

summers that you loved and you missed?

208

:

Christine: like I mentioned,

mom, my mom for a lot of my time

209

:

growing up was still at home.

210

:

So when we weren't at the town pool, we

were down at my family's beach house.

211

:

So lots of time spent at the beach.

212

:

I love the beach.

213

:

If I haven't GED about how much I

love the beach before this point,

214

:

be a lot of what I talk about today.

215

:

Alexandra: It's weird.

216

:

I don't think you've ever

mentioned it on the podcast.

217

:

This is entirely new side

of you that we're saying.

218

:

Christine,

219

:

Tell us more.

220

:

Christine: okay, well I'll be happy to.

221

:

So yeah, growing up we would go

down to the beach, spend time

222

:

down there with my grandparents my

dad's siblings sometimes would line

223

:

Alexandra: I.

224

:

Christine: like Memorial Day,

4th of July, all the way through

225

:

Labor Day, the end of summer.

226

:

Watching fireworks on the beach,

flying kites on the beach, for

227

:

seashells, swimming in the ocean.

228

:

I think one summer we did a swim

camp or a swim team down the beach.

229

:

I did an improv theater camp

one summer again with my sister.

230

:

Alexandra: Cool.

231

:

Christine: down when we

were down at the beach.

232

:

I think that was me

going into high school.

233

:

So.

234

:

It was, I have fond memories.

235

:

I love, when I think of summer, I think of

Seager, which is the beach I grew up going

236

:

to and I love for the rest of my life.

237

:

It's got a special place

in my heart for sure.

238

:

And it's funny, this is we're recording

this on Memorial Day weekend, I

239

:

have been seeing nonstop on TikTok

on Instagram about how Jersey does

240

:

Memorial Day weekend, like nobody

else in the world, in the country.

241

:

It's really quite funny, like I saw

something about this girl was doing a

242

:

video, how she was asking a friend from

California what are your MDW plans?

243

:

And they're like.

244

:

MDW Memorial Day weekend.

245

:

What are your plans like?

246

:

That's not a thing here, but it's

for Jersey, it's like the start to

247

:

summer, everything opens up, the

beaches open up, pools open up.

248

:

And like this weekend, the

weather is pretty crappy.

249

:

It's cold and been overcast.

250

:

But that doesn't stop Jersey

people from going all out.

251

:

It's like the par, the kickoff

to Summer Party Central.

252

:

Mentioned, I go grew up

going to Seager in Seager.

253

:

New Jersey, there is a pretty infamous

restaurant bar called the Parker

254

:

House literally around the block from

where my grandparents have their home.

255

:

So I grew up with that kind of culture,

cultural phenomenon happening around me.

256

:

So it just it's kind of cool.

257

:

It's

258

:

Alexandra: yeah.

259

:

Christine: every, and it's usually

the spot everybody hits first when

260

:

they go out at night, down the shore,

because it does close, I think.

261

:

Like they're not open super late.

262

:

They close maybe around midnight, it's

usually people's first stop and then they

263

:

move on to other clubs and bars after.

264

:

So, yeah.

265

:

It's now at the age where summer

at the shore is a little different,

266

:

you can indulge in the adult the

adult activities of going out to

267

:

bars and doing some crazy stuff.

268

:

But yeah, it's.

269

:

That's what I think of when I

think of summer and I have a

270

:

lot of fond memories growing up.

271

:

yeah.

272

:

Alexandra: So now that we've talked

about summers of the past and what we

273

:

missed what's on your bucket list or

what's on your list for this summer?

274

:

Christine: oh, there's so much.

275

:

have to, we'll have to

take it one step at a time.

276

:

I feel like my summer plans are still

coming together, which is crazy since

277

:

we are almost at the end of May.

278

:

But the newest exciting thing in

my life is I'm officially moving.

279

:

I think I mentioned in an episode or two

ago that I had started to think about it.

280

:

Well, I have actually pulled the trigger

and I'll be moving in mid-July, so

281

:

that'll be part of my summer plans.

282

:

Is prepping for that, figuring out.

283

:

All the logistical things along

with moving, that's a big change.

284

:

But you know, I'm also really

looking forward to spending

285

:

time with friends and family.

286

:

My sisters are coming back home

early July, and then I'm going

287

:

down to Nashville in late July

to be with my sisters down there.

288

:

So I'm excited about that and I haven't

done it in a few summers, but I, one

289

:

of the things I love to do growing

up was going strawberry picking.

290

:

there is a, I believe that

season's also in July.

291

:

July is gonna be a very busy month.

292

:

I have a feeling end of June into July.

293

:

What else?

294

:

Yeah, I also just, you know, summer nights

are some of my favorite time of the year.

295

:

It's also when it starts to

cool down a little bit more.

296

:

So I feel like I've

become alive at nighttime.

297

:

I mean, I'm alive at nighttime anyway.

298

:

I'm a night owl, the sun stays up

a little longer this time of year.

299

:

So you get to enjoy being out

and about you know, getting ice

300

:

cream and fun things like that.

301

:

Alexandra: Yeah,

302

:

Christine: some fun beach

reads, maybe even on the beach.

303

:

Alexandra: why not?

304

:

Christine: then, yeah.

305

:

Yeah, exactly.

306

:

And then I also have

307

:

Alexandra: I.

308

:

Christine: get my next tattoo or

two done the hopefully this summer.

309

:

So yeah, that's kind of

what I've got in the plans.

310

:

We'll see how it all, where all the,

where everything falls into place,

311

:

you know, things are still moving.

312

:

But What about you love?

313

:

What's going on?

314

:

Alexandra: gonna ask

before we hop on, move on.

315

:

What are your tattoos gonna be of?

316

:

Did we, did you ever mention,

317

:

Christine: Oh.

318

:

Alexandra: can't remember.

319

:

Christine: So one, I don't know just yet.

320

:

I'm going to once when I'm down in

Nashville with my sisters, I told

321

:

Tori I really wanna go with her.

322

:

She's gotten a couple new

ones recently and she is game.

323

:

So I don't know if we're gonna

do like a sister one or what,

324

:

whatever the case may be.

325

:

I also my first tattoo I got last

year was like a little nod for myself.

326

:

I went to a flash event and they had

a martini class, so I got that for me

327

:

because whenever I've thought about

the tattoos I want, they're usually

328

:

always for someone really important to

me and somewhat important in my life.

329

:

But, I got to a point where I

was like, I just need to get.

330

:

Let's just start.

331

:

And this studio I follow

with having an event.

332

:

They were doing flash,

they had a martini glass.

333

:

I thought, well, that's

really fitting for me.

334

:

I don't know if I've mentioned this

before, but the reason why I got it, I

335

:

mean, my family nickname for me is teeny.

336

:

mom sometimes calls me teeny martini.

337

:

I love a martini.

338

:

So I got that for myself.

339

:

But the recently, I thought it would

be cute get it cheersing another glass.

340

:

And both of my sisters love spritzes.

341

:

Nicole loves Aperol

Spritzes, so does Tori.

342

:

We also love a lemon cello spritz, so

I thought I could get another glass.

343

:

Because where it's placed, it's per,

there's space to add something next to it.

344

:

So that could be like a cute little

sister, like nod to my sisters.

345

:

and then I have a couple

of other ideas in mind.

346

:

And the next one I was thinking of doing.

347

:

I have actually reached

out to a tattoo artist.

348

:

I'm just waiting to hear back from her.

349

:

I'd like to get something from my grandma,

350

:

Dad's mom on the back of my arm.

351

:

Something she always told me growing

up as like a cute sentiment was,

352

:

I love you to the moon and back.

353

:

She got me necklace that had that

354

:

Alexandra: Mm-hmm.

355

:

Christine: Always would address each note

to me as my precious angel, Christine.

356

:

I have this idea of doing angel

wings on my, the back of my

357

:

And then my precious angel in her

handwriting, and then have it turn

358

:

into this really beautiful celestial

motif that goes up my arm and onto my

359

:

So yeah, I, I've reached out figuring

out where to start with that and I'm just

360

:

excited to have that come to fruition.

361

:

So,

362

:

Alexandra: Very nice.

363

:

Very cool.

364

:

But that'll be beautiful.

365

:

You'll have to share pictures

of it when it's all done.

366

:

Said, and done.

367

:

Christine: Absolutely.

368

:

I look forward to it.

369

:

Alexandra: Alright, cool.

370

:

Christine: Now your term, I love

what's on the docket this summer?

371

:

Alexandra: I think one big thing that I

have to do is take Piper for more walks.

372

:

I feel like I've.

373

:

Kind of slacked on being a

dog mom for a little bit.

374

:

She's doing really well.

375

:

She had surgery last fall, so

she's a lot more energy now.

376

:

And although I've been a lot busier than

I intended, 'cause I can't believe that

377

:

we are like recording this just before

June, and this will be coming out in June.

378

:

And I'm like, where did the year go?

379

:

I have absolutely no idea.

380

:

So I think getting her out more trying

to fit that into the busy schedule.

381

:

Christine: Sure.

382

:

Alexandra: I feel like focusing on my

own health and fitness and strength this

383

:

summer is gonna be really important to me.

384

:

I just wanna set really good habits now

'cause clearly life is not gonna get any

385

:

less busy that let me, I feel like there's

no time at the present, so, I think a lot

386

:

of self-care this summer is gonna be it.

387

:

So working on my body, physically

just moving my body, but also, you

388

:

know, still love going to therapy.

389

:

That's a great time working on all

those mental habits and patterns

390

:

that I'd like to alter change.

391

:

You know, there's actually not a

pool that I know near me and, you

392

:

know, so I don't know that pool days

will happen this summer and I don't

393

:

know that I'll get to the beach.

394

:

I'm definitely missing living in Southern

California and being so close to the

395

:

beach that I could just walk, but.

396

:

It's a summer for different things.

397

:

So maybe more day trips around North

Carolina, like out to Raleigh or Winston.

398

:

Down to Charlotte, which

I've already started.

399

:

A friend of mine and I went down to

Charlotte a few weeks ago and we went

400

:

to an, a romance bookstore called Trope.

401

:

And they actually started out as like a

van and eventually got so popular they

402

:

would park at breweries and like other

places and they were got large enough

403

:

that they could open a small store.

404

:

So it was kind of fun to go visit and see.

405

:

So I think on that, finishing up

some random crafts and projects like

406

:

like all the stuff from like college

graduation, I'd like to put in a

407

:

shadow box and actually display it.

408

:

'cause otherwise it's just sitting in

a box in an attic and I feel like hey,

409

:

worked really hard for that stuff.

410

:

Might as well display it.

411

:

So doing that.

412

:

And then I feel like one of the

big things for me within this

413

:

next month is getting ready for a

vendor show for my own business.

414

:

Just a lot of prep work goes into that.

415

:

Making sure like how when I want the tent

to look, what will need to be packed what

416

:

I have to do all on the front end mostly.

417

:

So I'm not stressing the day before.

418

:

Also ties into why I wanna get my fitness

end goals so I can like, pick up things

419

:

without, you know, hurting myself.

420

:

So I feel like that's a big one.

421

:

And like some projects around

the house helping my mom out.

422

:

But I feel like this one, this summer is

just like taking care of a lot of myself.

423

:

Maybe, you know, spending time with

friends and family, but I don't know.

424

:

Good.

425

:

I think it's gonna be a

summer of hard work and I.

426

:

Just being busy and surprised

when it's end, because I'm like,

427

:

wait, didn't we just start this?

428

:

So I think that's it.

429

:

Christine: Yeah.

430

:

That's awesome.

431

:

I love that.

432

:

Very cool.

433

:

Alexandra: yes, it's gonna be, it's gonna

be make our conversations when we finally

434

:

stop playing phone tag to go Hey, for a

couple hours what's new, what's going on?

435

:

And actually have a lot to catch up on,

which makes it a lovely way to catch up.

436

:

Kind of like our cozy ketchup episode.

437

:

Christine: exactly.

438

:

Yeah, life has been lifeing recently.

439

:

It's been busy, but definitely think I've

sort of mellowed out things work-wise

440

:

and, you know, I'm looking forward

to our catchups and just taking it a

441

:

little slower until I have to move.

442

:

That's not gonna be slow.

443

:

Alexandra: And then you can move

and then it'll get slower again.

444

:

Right.

445

:

You're just gonna get.

446

:

Christine: Yeah.

447

:

Alexandra: for a moment and then

you can know out and settle in.

448

:

Are you excited for the new place?

449

:

Christine: I'm very excited.

450

:

So I have been living on my own for a

few years, but a good friend of mine and

451

:

I are actually gonna be moving into a

place together and it's great because one,

452

:

I'm gonna be living with one of my best

friends, but also it's a bigger space.

453

:

It's closer to friends

and family and work.

454

:

It's in an area that I

know kind of pretty well.

455

:

I grew up or not grew

up, I went to high school

456

:

So I'm familiar with the area a little

bit and it's close for her job and

457

:

her work and her family, or it's

close for her work and her family.

458

:

And yeah, I'm just really I'm really

looking forward to something new.

459

:

It just sort of all came together.

460

:

And speaking of it sort of

just feeling really right.

461

:

Knows that one of my.

462

:

Angel numbers or whatever,

however you wanna call it.

463

:

I, my little messages from

the universe I get is 11, 11.

464

:

I see it quite often,

sometimes once or twice a day.

465

:

But I was reflecting on that recently.

466

:

I was like, I grew up in a house number,

but I grew up in a house where the

467

:

number is 11, my new house or apartment

is in a house and that number is 11.

468

:

the day we got and signed the

lease, I saw 11 and 11 twice.

469

:

And usually that only happens when, like

something that this is the right move.

470

:

So I just wanted to share that that

little tidbit about experience so far.

471

:

Alexandra: That's amazing.

472

:

I actually can't wait to hopefully see

it towards the end of this year when

473

:

I come in December, if that's still

474

:

Christine: yeah.

475

:

Alexandra: like you all settled in, so

476

:

Christine: by that point, hopefully

yes, we should be pretty well settled,

477

:

Alexandra: that's awesome.

478

:

Christine: excited to share it with you.

479

:

Yeah.

480

:

So more to come, maybe I'll share a

little update from my new place so we

481

:

can share on Instagram or something.

482

:

We

483

:

Alexandra: That'd be really fun.

484

:

Christine: little tour.

485

:

Alexandra: The adventures

of moving with Christine.

486

:

Christine: Oh gosh, yeah.

487

:

Alexandra: Well, since we're talking about

Cozy Home comforts, why don't we switch

488

:

into what are our favorites for summer,

particularly in the food and drink thing.

489

:

So like Christine, are there any foods or

drinks that you feel are quintessentially

490

:

summer for you and that you're

like, I must have this every summer.

491

:

Christine: Oh yes, definitely.

492

:

So the first things that came

to my mind were summer salads.

493

:

Growing up one of the sort of

quintessential meals on the size

494

:

on the dinner table, especially

in summertime, was Jersey tomatoes

495

:

with sliced mozzarella, which

many would call a appraise salad.

496

:

I now know this in my adult

life, but growing up it was just,

497

:

but growing up it was just tomatoes

and If you're from Jersey, we say Mutz,

498

:

New Jersey, New York area mozzarella.

499

:

It's usually with a yummy, delicious,

sweet, fresh jersey tomato.

500

:

We slice up basil salt pepper,

a little olive oil or Italian

501

:

dressing drizzle on top,

502

:

And.

503

:

Love.

504

:

Another great summertime salad that we've

sort of brought into the rotation in

505

:

recent years is ate as a watermelon salad

506

:

With mozzarella.

507

:

Just, I think there's other,

like variations of it with feta.

508

:

It's a much milder cheese,

but it can be kind of salty.

509

:

And we usually do that with

a beam drizzle fresh basil.

510

:

so, so, so, so, so, so good.

511

:

And then my dad being the grill master

that he is goes out all out in the

512

:

summertime smoking like chickens

or doing his ribs steak or like

513

:

even a good old fashioned cookout

barbecue with burgers and dogs.

514

:

That to me, just, you know, I.

515

:

Is summer in a nutshell.

516

:

And along with those delicious fresh

salads and fruit salads and yummy

517

:

meats, we, have to finish it with

518

:

So my grandmother has a peach

cobbler recipe that I've tried

519

:

my hand at a few years ago.

520

:

Wanna give that another try?

521

:

love, love a blueberry pie,

even with a coffee crumb

522

:

Alexandra: Ooh,

523

:

Christine: topping.

524

:

Alexandra: would, Ooh,

that sounds amazing.

525

:

Ooh.

526

:

Christine: so, so good with some

vanilla ice cream on the side.

527

:

Make it a little all mode special.

528

:

Alexandra: Okay, so when you make

that, will you send me a slice?

529

:

'cause that sounds amazing.

530

:

Christine: I, I think we could work

531

:

Alexandra: We can work it.

532

:

Okay.

533

:

Okay.

534

:

Christine: We'll figure it out.

535

:

And then I.

536

:

I drink this all year long 'cause I

just want summer with me all year long.

537

:

But lemonade or iced tea or

mixing the two, making an Arnold

538

:

The best.

539

:

And then one of the things I got

really good at making actually during

540

:

the pandemic, and I do love is a

good old fashioned coconut cream pie.

541

:

Alexandra: Interesting.

542

:

Okay.

543

:

Christine: Really tasty.

544

:

Alexandra: It's funny, it's coconut

cream pies are never something that I'm

545

:

like, well, I must try and, I don't know.

546

:

I like coconut.

547

:

I just, why so.

548

:

Christine: So for me, I grew up where

in the area I grew up, there was a diner

549

:

restaurant, like called The Minute Man.

550

:

So it was sort of Americana,

old country, you know.

551

:

Breakfast

552

:

And they have, they had amazing pies.

553

:

So there was a chocolate cream pie

and a coconut cream pie that my

554

:

family would always get for, you know,

different family occasions, birthdays,

555

:

celebr, like holiday celebrations.

556

:

And I really loved the

coconut cream pie and

557

:

wanted to figure out how

to make it at a certain

558

:

They stopped making it,

559

:

Alexandra: Oh, bummer.

560

:

Christine: Owners changed hands and

they they weren't making it anymore.

561

:

So I was like, you know what,

I'm gonna figure it out.

562

:

And that my COVID era was I was in

the kitchen baking, so I figured

563

:

out how to make coconut cream

pie, how to do a whole slew of

564

:

So, yeah.

565

:

Alexandra: Very nice.

566

:

Very cool.

567

:

Christine: about, yeah,

what about you love?

568

:

Alexandra: Okay.

569

:

Christine: What's on

your two be made list?

570

:

Alexandra: it's funny when you

mentioned the watermelon and mozzarella

571

:

salad, my first thought was like,

oh we used to make that with feta.

572

:

So much more of a feta person.

573

:

Although I think it would be interesting

to try it with watermelon mozzarella, so.

574

:

Okay.

575

:

So things I remember from summer

specifically was my mom would

576

:

always make her grands potato

salad and I love potato salad.

577

:

I, but I think, I don't know if

we've talked about this before.

578

:

I have a love hate relationship with Mayo.

579

:

And so things that are like pasta,

salads, like tuna, other kind of salads

580

:

like that, that are mayo based, I have

texture issues with if it's too wet.

581

:

So the thing I love about my Great Grand's

potato salad is that it's not too wet.

582

:

It's just kind of dry and it's

just one of my favorite things.

583

:

It's always light, not too heavy full of

paprika on top and sliced hardboiled eggs.

584

:

And so I'm really excited to make

that I might have to either bug

585

:

my mom for the recipe or see if

she'll kindly make some soon.

586

:

'cause I feel like now that we're kind of

getting into the full blown, full blown.

587

:

And summer, I'm like, Ooh,

now I really want some.

588

:

And it is such a treat 'cause like it's

not something that we make very often.

589

:

And since moving to the South, I feel like

something that I have to do this summer

590

:

as also partially anond to my dad is he

loved this place called Dario and they

591

:

make hot dogs and hamburgers and salads

and stuff, but he loved their hot dogs.

592

:

So the plan is my sister's coming

up on Father's Day weekend and her

593

:

mom and I are all gonna go out to

Dario and have a hot dog for dad.

594

:

Christine: Oh,

595

:

Alexandra: So that'll be nice.

596

:

And then

597

:

Christine: I remember going with you

598

:

Alexandra: yeah

599

:

Christine: a couple times.

600

:

We always love the hot dog

or I'm getting a shake.

601

:

Alexandra: Uhhuh.

602

:

Yeah.

603

:

They have good ice cream there.

604

:

And it's funny the way that my dad

grew up, either I think having hot

605

:

dogs was they ger calls it all away

and having chili on top and I'm.

606

:

I am more used to like soup chili.

607

:

So with like beans more broth, they

mean like more like meat chili.

608

:

So the all the way is hotdog

bun, chili mustard, and a

609

:

little bit of chopped cole slaw.

610

:

So I'll have to do that for him.

611

:

And you know, actually I

haven't had Dario in such a long

612

:

time, so it'll be nice to go.

613

:

Drink wise, I do love lemonade.

614

:

And it's funny that when you were

mentioning strawberries, I think

615

:

this summer or something I'd like to

try is different flavored lemonades.

616

:

So maybe something with like

blueberry and or strawberry and

617

:

flavoring it a little bit differently.

618

:

So that's something I'd want

to try and make at home.

619

:

So it's you know, what's

going into it, like less

620

:

Christine: don't

621

:

Alexandra: sugar, but sweet

622

:

Christine: are you one of those

people that lavenders, soapy, or

623

:

do you like lavender and things?

624

:

Alexandra: it.

625

:

Christine: honey lemonade is delicious.

626

:

Alexandra: Lavender honey.

627

:

I'll have to try it.

628

:

It depends, right?

629

:

I think sometimes if the lavender

smells too, like it tastes too

630

:

fake, it leans soapy to me.

631

:

But if it's more subtle, I

feel like I really enjoy it.

632

:

And I'm like, Ooh,

there's lavender in this.

633

:

It adds a flavor profile, but then

sometimes when it like punches

634

:

you in the face, I do feel like,

I'm like, why am I in soap?

635

:

And I'm like, I don't wanna

drink soap or eat soap.

636

:

I think I've had a lavender latte once

and there was like actual lavender

637

:

buds in it and I don't know that they

added a whole lot of other lavender

638

:

flavor and I thought that was nice.

639

:

But I've had ones where it's lavender

flavor slash lavender bloods and

640

:

I was like, alright, I'm good.

641

:

Thank you.

642

:

Christine: I actually

have a tea from Harney

643

:

Alexandra: Mm-hmm.

644

:

Christine: Like a loose leaf I'm

pretty sure is just lavender.

645

:

And I, for one thing or another, I

brewed some lavender tea and I mixed

646

:

that with lemon juice and fresh honey.

647

:

So you, it was like, I forget the ratios

of everything, but it was really so like

648

:

Alexandra: That sounds lovely.

649

:

Christine: deal fresh, not artificial.

650

:

Alexandra: Yeah,

651

:

Christine: It was really good.

652

:

Alexandra: I think that's

what I like the fresh even if

653

:

it's dried but not artificial.

654

:

That's where I like lavender.

655

:

But anything more than that,

I'm like, oh, I'm good.

656

:

Thank you.

657

:

Christine: That's fair.

658

:

No, that makes sense

659

:

Alexandra: I was, before we hit record,

I was telling Christine, I had recently

660

:

tried a, oh, was it a Honey Thme Cortado?

661

:

And it was at.

662

:

It was interesting.

663

:

I don't know that it's something like,

you know what, Christine, when you come

664

:

down here, we're gonna have to go there.

665

:

We gotta get the honey time cortado.

666

:

Because I mean, Christine, I feel

like the past couple times I've seen

667

:

you, you're drinking a lot more coffee

668

:

Christine: I know I am.

669

:

It's very new for me.

670

:

I don't do it often and you know,

some may look at the coffee I

671

:

drink and I'm like, and they're

like, girl, you don't drink coffee.

672

:

You drink sugar with a side of coffee.

673

:

Which

674

:

Alexandra: With a splash.

675

:

Christine: with a splash, but I only,

I really don't do it all that often.

676

:

But every once in a while,

you know, I'll make a latte.

677

:

Or if I'm out and about, you

know, I usually do a latte.

678

:

I've tried cold brew.

679

:

Learned the hard way that is not for me

because of its strength and intensity and

680

:

experienced pretty intense side effects

of caffeine, heart palpitations and all.

681

:

So, yeah I've learned what my limits

are and sometimes I'll have it, and

682

:

sometimes I'm just gonna stick with

my tea or my seltzer or whatever.

683

:

Alexandra: Okay.

684

:

So yeah, I think I wanna try

some more flavored drinks.

685

:

I'd love to try making my own

coffee syrups this summer.

686

:

'cause I am trying to make more coffee

cut sugar slightly outta my life.

687

:

So today the caffeine is just coffee with

a splash of milk and it's part of me is

688

:

Christine: how's that?

689

:

Alexandra: it's, I'm getting used to it.

690

:

I also, as a funny side note I was going

to get coffee with a coworker at work.

691

:

We were, we needed some go juice

as I like to call it for the day.

692

:

'cause it was, we were hitting a lull and.

693

:

I was, I had made a comment that

like my primary care practitioner

694

:

was like, I'd like you to have only

two caffeine drinks a day if you can.

695

:

Not that I drink a crazy amount

of coffee in a day, but sometimes

696

:

there's a few days where it's like a

three, four, a spreader shot kind of

697

:

day, maybe a cup of coffee in there.

698

:

So, you know, not every

day, but some days.

699

:

And so I looked at, I was telling

my friend that and I was like, well,

700

:

I've, you know, already had two

cups, so this will be the third.

701

:

And she's you could always do decaf.

702

:

And apparently my face

said something like.

703

:

I felt like my inner Gilmore

girls was coming out of like

704

:

the disdain for decaf coffee.

705

:

And I was like, I am so sorry.

706

:

Didn't realize my face was doing that.

707

:

But yeah, apparently I have some

very strong opinions about decaf

708

:

that I was like, no, that is,

why would you drink that sw?

709

:

So to anyone out there

who loves decaf, I am.

710

:

I'm so sorry.

711

:

Please don't be offended.

712

:

Is strictly my opinion.

713

:

But anyways onto desserts,

we were talking about food.

714

:

One, something I really like to make

during summer, because it's like a

715

:

no bake thing, is this ice box cake.

716

:

It's a chocolate espresso icebox cake.

717

:

And I haven't made it in many years

because you, I find it sometimes difficult

718

:

to find the chocolate like wafer cookies.

719

:

So do you remember the n wafer cookies?

720

:

So it's kind of like that,

but chocolate and thinner.

721

:

So I have not had luck in the

past few years finding a wafer

722

:

chocolate cookie that I wanna use.

723

:

But essentially you make

a lot of whipped cream.

724

:

Some of it you flavor with espresso

and you have a spring form pan.

725

:

And so you put a layer of like

chocolate waves, then a layer

726

:

of just regular whipped cream.

727

:

Then you sprinkle on some like espresso,

cocoa powder mix, another layer of

728

:

cookies, then the espresso, and then

you just kind of keep layering until

729

:

you finish and you top it with a layer

of plain whipped cream and a little

730

:

bit of espresso, cocoa powder on top.

731

:

And you just let it freeze for a

while, kind of get a little bit

732

:

firmer and you kind of open it and

it's a really nice, like icebox cake.

733

:

It's very light and you know, cool

for the summer when it gets hot.

734

:

So it's a really nice one.

735

:

So that's something, you know.

736

:

That or love the Bailey's chocolate mousse

recipe that somebody showed me in college.

737

:

So that'll make,

738

:

That's a good time,

739

:

Christine: Yeah,

740

:

Alexandra: but you don't cook

off the Bailey, so, you know.

741

:

Christine: Don't cook off the good stuff.

742

:

Alexandra: Right.

743

:

So Christine, are there any new places

that you're dying to try this summer?

744

:

Christine: there's so much I still feel

like I need to experience in Nashville.

745

:

I was there a few years ago when my

sister first moved out there, but

746

:

she's lived there for two years now I'm

excited to go back and just have her

747

:

take me to all of her favorite spots.

748

:

I haven't been to Broadway and really

excited to check out that scene.

749

:

Hear the live music, check out,

you know, bars and restaurants,

750

:

see what the fit food fair is like.

751

:

Nashville Hot Chicken.

752

:

I mean,

753

:

Had that in a few years,

but it's really good.

754

:

Alexandra: Okay.

755

:

Christine: about that.

756

:

she loves going, there's a mining

minor league team that plays in

757

:

Nashville that she likes to go to.

758

:

So go to a baseball game,

have a hot dog and a beer.

759

:

So those are some new things I'm

looking forward to trying this summer.

760

:

How about you?

761

:

What things do you wanna try?

762

:

Alexandra: Oh man.

763

:

New things I'd like to try.

764

:

In terms of food I feel like I've

seen a lot of things pop up on

765

:

Instagram for Charlotte or Raleigh.

766

:

So I think I wanna kind of get a list

together and I've got some friends who

767

:

are definitely down for a food, you

know, a food run to a different city.

768

:

So,

769

:

One thing I would like to go back to,

it was a, I don't know how to describe

770

:

it, but I guess like a food hall.

771

:

So there's like a bunch of different, like

restaurants in this, one building out in

772

:

Raleigh and there was a place called Buena

Papa Fry Bar, which was kind of cool.

773

:

So everything was like a base of

fries and then it had all this

774

:

different stuff on top based on what

you ordered, and it was really good.

775

:

So I would definitely wanna go back

there, try some of the different

776

:

food options and walk around Raleigh.

777

:

So I think that's my big thing.

778

:

Trying to find some different things

that I wanna go to different places for.

779

:

But yeah, I think in terms of food,

that's all I can think of at the moment.

780

:

Probably should have come

more prepared with, you know,

781

:

a list of different places.

782

:

But yeah, I think just kind of

spending time with friends and

783

:

trying new places together.

784

:

So,

785

:

Christine: I love, I think that's perfect.

786

:

Alexandra: yeah.

787

:

Christine: Awesome.

788

:

Alexandra: So what, Christine is

on your to make list this summer.

789

:

I think you kind of mentioned maybe

wanting to revisit the coconut cream pie.

790

:

Christine: Yes.

791

:

pretty much everything I listed and things

I love to enjoy, I really wanna make,

792

:

Alexandra: Okay.

793

:

Christine: So love to help

my dad make some of his ribs.

794

:

Chef's kiss, so, so good.

795

:

Alexandra: Pork or beef.

796

:

Christine: pork, he does pork ribs,

797

:

Alexandra: Okay.

798

:

Christine: good.

799

:

Alexandra: Okay.

800

:

Christine: I don't know if

I've ever had beef ribs.

801

:

Alexandra: Oh girl.

802

:

Christine: I dunno.

803

:

Alexandra: Next time you come

down we'll ask, let's see if

804

:

mom will make some short ribs.

805

:

I,

806

:

Christine: well, short ribs I have had.

807

:

Alexandra: that's beef.

808

:

Christine: is that the, okay.

809

:

I

810

:

Alexandra: Yeah.

811

:

Christine: there was a

difference between like

812

:

Alexandra: No, I now, oh, now

I'm questioning it, but I'm

813

:

pretty sure short ribs are beef.

814

:

No.

815

:

Yes.

816

:

Yeah.

817

:

Christine: didn't know if, I

didn't know if there was, I

818

:

knew there was a short rib.

819

:

I know there's pork rib and I

thought there was like the beef

820

:

equivalent of a rib from a pork.

821

:

Alexandra: So clearly we need

to do some fact checking here.

822

:

Christine: Wait, let me

Google it really quick.

823

:

Ah, so there is, there, there

are two different things, but

824

:

they come from the same area.

825

:

Alexandra: okay.

826

:

Christine: the main difference

lies in their shape and

827

:

amount of meat on the bone.

828

:

So a short rib, they're cut from

the lower portion of the rib cage,

829

:

Alexandra: Okay.

830

:

Christine: And are known for their thicker

cut and rich flavor beef, back rib are

831

:

cut from the upper back of the cow.

832

:

Their longer curvier, less meat on top.

833

:

With the meat being between the bones.

834

:

So that's why like when I think

of ribs, I think of pork rib.

835

:

But I know that there

is a beef equivalent.

836

:

Alexandra: interesting.

837

:

Christine: short rib, but I don't know if

I've had the beef, like the beef back rib

838

:

Alexandra: So, okay.

839

:

Then I don't think I've ever

had beef back ribs either.

840

:

I've only ever had, when I have beef ribs,

it's always short ribs and I think I like,

841

:

'cause there's a lot more meat on it.

842

:

Christine: I love it.

843

:

And it's so tender, like

844

:

Alexandra: Mm-hmm.

845

:

Christine: So the fresh tomato moat

salad with tomatoes for my mom's garden.

846

:

And I now know, thanks to the place where

I work, how to make fresh mozzarella.

847

:

So maybe make everything fresh.

848

:

Fresh mozzarella, by the way.

849

:

Alexandra: To die for.

850

:

Christine: It's better

than any store bought.

851

:

I mean, it's I'll

852

:

Alexandra: Okay?

853

:

Christine: Would love to

make some homemade, peach

854

:

cobbler with ice cream maybe.

855

:

and then actually what I'd like to do

this weekend, if possible, kickoff summer

856

:

make some fresh guac with a Corona online.

857

:

It's always perfect.

858

:

said before, chef's gift delish.

859

:

how about you?

860

:

What are you looking to make?

861

:

Alexandra: So I think I mentioned earlier

that I would like to start making some,

862

:

like my own coffee syrups and stuff.

863

:

So maybe just start small, not

a whole lot of, any one thing.

864

:

Try different things.

865

:

I feel like I've seen so many

different things on Instagram and

866

:

reels that I would love to try.

867

:

And I feel like one of those

trends is like the smashed taco.

868

:

So whether it be beef or a chicken

with a Caesar salad on a taco,

869

:

I feel like that would be fun.

870

:

Fun to try see if it works.

871

:

Christine: Speaking of chicken

Caesar salad on a taco.

872

:

I recently had it on pizza

873

:

Alexandra: How was that?

874

:

Christine: It was really good.

875

:

I had a great time.

876

:

Alexandra: I will say I kind of

miss that about Jersey, but just the

877

:

variety of to that you put on pizza.

878

:

Pizza down here, they don't

seem to do a whole lot of that.

879

:

And I'm like, you know what, you

know, it was strange when I first

880

:

moved to Jersey that I was like,

what are you all doing to pizza?

881

:

Christine: But

882

:

Alexandra: you know.

883

:

Christine: so I don't know if I

mentioned, my boss is actually originally

884

:

from Italy and a lot of the shit

we put on pizza here isn't a thing.

885

:

But in Italy they do have a pizza

called Americana or Americano.

886

:

Alexandra: Uhhuh.

887

:

Christine: pizza Americano.

888

:

Yeah.

889

:

Do you have a guess what they put

on pizza for our American pizza?

890

:

Alexandra: Am I gonna be ashamed or I,

891

:

Christine: be like, that's not a thing.

892

:

We would never, I, as far as I

know, I've never seen a pizza here

893

:

in America with those toppings.

894

:

Alexandra: I'm a little afraid

895

:

Christine: when do you thinker,

American cuisine, what first comes to

896

:

Alexandra: like I guess hot dogs.

897

:

No, no, no, no, No.

898

:

Christine: and french fries on a pizza

and they call that American pizza.

899

:

Alexandra: Whoa.

900

:

I'm so ashamed.

901

:

Christine: can buy that.

902

:

But as far as I know, I have never

903

:

Alexandra: I've never seen that.

904

:

I've seen french fries on a pizza.

905

:

Christine: Yes.

906

:

Or I've seen pasta.

907

:

I've

908

:

Alexandra: Yep.

909

:

Christine: So that's just like

something now you all know too.

910

:

Thanks joining me in this awful discovery.

911

:

Alexandra: I am sorry.

912

:

I think I need to, I'm sitting down.

913

:

I was like, I think I

need to be on the floor.

914

:

Oh my gosh.

915

:

Ooh, okay.

916

:

Christine: You're welcome.

917

:

Alexandra: I don't think I was

saying thank you there, my friend.

918

:

Okay.

919

:

Christine: You didn't have to.

920

:

Alexandra: Yeah.

921

:

All right.

922

:

Now that I'm gonna move on from that.

923

:

'cause that's a that's weird me out.

924

:

Christine: Moving on.

925

:

Alexandra: so I don't know about

you, Christine, but did you

926

:

ever like Girl Scout cookies?

927

:

So I, I saw.

928

:

Christine: a bunch in my day.

929

:

Alexandra: I saw a recipe for healthy fin

mins that I think I would like to try as

930

:

maybe less ingredients, less preservatives

and stuff, but still kind of get that

931

:

chocolatey minty feel and a taste.

932

:

There is a lemon earl gray

trace leche cake that I saw on

933

:

Instagram that I'd like to try.

934

:

And you kind of make it in a one of

those, I don't know what to call this like

935

:

cylindrical short, like margarita glasses.

936

:

So I think that would be really fun.

937

:

Different cookie recipes?

938

:

Christine: coop?

939

:

Like a coop.

940

:

Alexandra: No.

941

:

Christine: Okay.

942

:

Alexandra: know.

943

:

I'd have to show you the picture of it.

944

:

But it doesn't have a rounded bottom.

945

:

It's almost like a flat, if you just

took a cylinder and chopped part of

946

:

it off and then stuck a step on it.

947

:

Christine: Yeah.

948

:

I think I've seen those two and

I, they may call them or like

949

:

another version of Cooper or Mar

Margarita Glass or something.

950

:

Alexandra: Something.

951

:

So yes,

952

:

Christine: cool.

953

:

Alexandra: they are pretty.

954

:

And so I think I wanna

make a lot of desserts.

955

:

Do I want to eat all of them?

956

:

No.

957

:

So I need to bring them into work and

put them on the different floors of the

958

:

office building and spread out the love.

959

:

I've saw like a recipe for a

like a black sesame cookie.

960

:

So just,

961

:

Christine: sesame.

962

:

Alexandra: I think I wanna

963

:

Christine: you make that

when I come to visit?

964

:

Alexandra: Sure.

965

:

Let me know when you're coming and

we'll, I'll try a batch before you

966

:

get here and then have it made.

967

:

So, and part of why I wanna do this is

because I was given some really dark

968

:

chocolate and couldn't finish it at home.

969

:

And so I was like, lemme

bring this into work.

970

:

And everyone, at the

time, everyone hated it.

971

:

And they were like, who brought in this?

972

:

This is terrible.

973

:

Everyone was taking a bite and

basically spitting it back out.

974

:

And I felt so bad, but I was like,

also, I'm like, I couldn't eat it

975

:

and I didn't wanna throw it out.

976

:

So I was like, maybe other

people will enjoy it.

977

:

So I feel like I need to redeem

myself from that with maybe some

978

:

better sweets that I bring in.

979

:

But later I brought in again, had gotten

a lot of chocolate from something, and

980

:

it was just too much to have at home.

981

:

So I brought in a bag.

982

:

They were like the lint truffles.

983

:

Everyone, most people loved

them except for one person.

984

:

She's who brought these in?

985

:

I was like, not again.

986

:

I was like, I did, I had to make

up for the previous chocolate.

987

:

She's I liked the other chocolate.

988

:

I was so mad when they were gone

and she's I, this is too sweet.

989

:

I was like, I'm so sorry.

990

:

I'm so sorry.

991

:

Christine: You're the only one bid.

992

:

Alexandra: Yeah.

993

:

I was

994

:

Christine: You're

995

:

Alexandra: like, you know, I was like,

you should have taken it all then.

996

:

But.

997

:

Christine: well now you

know what to get her for the

998

:

Alexandra: I know, right.

999

:

And just get her the extra dark.

:

00:45:45,420 --> 00:45:47,400

I mean, it was very dark chocolate.

:

00:45:47,400 --> 00:45:49,500

And I enjoy dark chocolate, but this was,

:

00:45:50,385 --> 00:45:51,855

Christine: Like 98% chocolate

:

00:45:52,110 --> 00:45:52,920

Like whatever.

:

00:45:53,020 --> 00:45:53,410

Yeah.

:

00:45:53,725 --> 00:45:54,325

Alexandra: yeah.

:

00:45:54,725 --> 00:45:57,825

It was bitter and very little

taste to me, very little taste.

:

00:45:57,825 --> 00:45:58,275

So it was like,

:

00:45:58,325 --> 00:45:58,715

Christine: yeah.

:

00:45:58,835 --> 00:46:00,005

I like dark chocolate too.

:

00:46:00,005 --> 00:46:02,495

But this extra super darks.

:

00:46:03,005 --> 00:46:08,295

No, we sell some of those bars

at work and I'm like could never.

:

00:46:08,410 --> 00:46:09,670

Alexandra: I'm like, they're

definitely not something.

:

00:46:09,670 --> 00:46:10,270

I'm like, you know what?

:

00:46:10,270 --> 00:46:11,050

Let me eat this.

:

00:46:11,050 --> 00:46:15,450

This is cut this up, chop it up

to go into a recipe of something.

:

00:46:16,605 --> 00:46:17,145

Christine: Sure.

:

00:46:17,145 --> 00:46:17,385

Yeah.

:

00:46:17,390 --> 00:46:17,670

Figure out.

:

00:46:18,555 --> 00:46:19,605

Oh, there goes my dad.

:

00:46:19,740 --> 00:46:22,610

Alexandra: I think I'd also

like to try and make mole like

:

00:46:22,700 --> 00:46:24,350

chicken with mole this summer.

:

00:46:24,455 --> 00:46:26,525

Christine: Oh, yeah.

:

00:46:26,840 --> 00:46:27,080

Alexandra: So.

:

00:46:27,875 --> 00:46:29,945

Christine: That's something I'd

like to get into more is learning

:

00:46:29,945 --> 00:46:32,365

how to make some authentic

:

00:46:33,590 --> 00:46:39,220

I work with several women from some are

from Columbia, some are from Costa Rica.

:

00:46:39,220 --> 00:46:43,000

So like there's a lot for

me to learn from them.

:

00:46:43,197 --> 00:46:43,767

so yeah,

:

00:46:43,891 --> 00:46:45,211

Alexandra: I miss homemade tamales.

:

00:46:45,631 --> 00:46:49,141

They were so good being in Southern

California, like there was a lot

:

00:46:49,141 --> 00:46:52,221

of really authentic Mexican food

and and a lot of that wasn't.

:

00:46:53,151 --> 00:46:58,422

So, my mom had a coworker who her

whole family was like involved in,

:

00:46:58,776 --> 00:47:01,266

I dunno how to describe,

so, you know, quinceaneras,

:

00:47:01,696 --> 00:47:02,086

Christine: Oh yeah.

:

00:47:02,236 --> 00:47:02,806

Alexandra: so

:

00:47:02,926 --> 00:47:05,856

Christine: the sweet, like

sweet 16, but for 15, turning

:

00:47:05,946 --> 00:47:11,126

Alexandra: and it's a big thing and one

of her coworkers, had that their family

:

00:47:11,126 --> 00:47:16,159

was basically involved in different

parts of helping set up that event.

:

00:47:16,159 --> 00:47:20,809

So her brother was like a makeup

artist and helped style the girls.

:

00:47:21,029 --> 00:47:27,159

And then her dad was a chef or would

do a lot of the catering, so making the

:

00:47:27,159 --> 00:47:28,599

food and her mom would make the cake.

:

00:47:28,629 --> 00:47:32,349

She and her mom would make the cakes and

she would help set up venues and stuff.

:

00:47:32,589 --> 00:47:35,079

So they kind of were all involved

in this family business of

:

00:47:35,189 --> 00:47:36,839

organizing different quinceaneras.

:

00:47:37,199 --> 00:47:41,579

And she had brought in some food for

my mom, and mom brought it home and

:

00:47:41,579 --> 00:47:43,679

it was, ugh, such really good food.

:

00:47:43,679 --> 00:47:47,699

And I think her dad was more from

like a coastal town in Mexico.

:

00:47:47,909 --> 00:47:48,449

I don't remember.

:

00:47:48,449 --> 00:47:51,269

But it was so fresh, it was so delicious.

:

00:47:51,339 --> 00:47:52,689

And now I really want chicken tanga.

:

00:47:54,439 --> 00:47:57,629

But yeah, it was, I do miss

Southern California now that sense.

:

00:47:57,719 --> 00:47:58,619

It was good Mexican food.

:

00:47:58,756 --> 00:47:58,882

Yeah.

:

00:47:58,882 --> 00:48:02,932

So I feel like this summer is like just

an experimental time, just kind of trying

:

00:48:02,932 --> 00:48:07,792

different things and seeing what works

and what might be some recipe fails.

:

00:48:09,337 --> 00:48:09,637

Christine: Fair.

:

00:48:10,117 --> 00:48:11,777

Yeah that's the beauty of it though.

:

00:48:11,777 --> 00:48:15,347

You know, trying new things, figuring

out what works and what doesn't and,

:

00:48:15,977 --> 00:48:17,417

but most importantly, having fun.

:

00:48:17,612 --> 00:48:17,902

Yeah.

:

00:48:18,002 --> 00:48:21,502

Alexandra: Like last night I was making

panier tika masala, and I'm cooking

:

00:48:21,502 --> 00:48:22,792

and I'm like, this doesn't look right.

:

00:48:22,792 --> 00:48:24,142

Why doesn't this look right?

:

00:48:24,262 --> 00:48:25,672

It doesn't, it's not hasting.

:

00:48:25,672 --> 00:48:25,972

Right.

:

00:48:26,182 --> 00:48:27,712

Only to realize I forgot the tomato waste.

:

00:48:28,642 --> 00:48:29,842

And I was like, oh, let me add that.

:

00:48:30,892 --> 00:48:34,162

At least it was not far enough

that I had, I couldn't add it.

:

00:48:34,212 --> 00:48:34,482

But

:

00:48:34,647 --> 00:48:35,337

Christine: of no return.

:

00:48:35,532 --> 00:48:35,892

Alexandra: yeah.

:

00:48:35,892 --> 00:48:38,472

But I was like, this

really doesn't look right.

:

00:48:40,392 --> 00:48:41,142

Christine: Whoopsies.

:

00:48:41,442 --> 00:48:41,712

Alexandra: Oops.

:

00:48:42,552 --> 00:48:43,487

Christine: I do love pane.

:

00:48:43,752 --> 00:48:46,992

I do love paneer and I

love Tiki masala, so yum.

:

00:48:47,472 --> 00:48:48,702

Alexandra: Well, next thing

we're done, I'll make it.

:

00:48:49,482 --> 00:48:53,002

Christine: yeah, would love to learn

how to make it at home, because

:

00:48:53,002 --> 00:48:58,712

typically, like we usually order in

Indian food, but give a go at making it.

:

00:48:58,892 --> 00:49:00,062

Alexandra: Do you like leftovers?

:

00:49:00,062 --> 00:49:01,232

Are you a leftover person?

:

00:49:01,421 --> 00:49:02,741

Christine: I feel like

we've talked about this.

:

00:49:03,371 --> 00:49:04,391

Alexandra: I feel like your answer is no.

:

00:49:05,091 --> 00:49:06,711

Christine: I'm not the

biggest leftover person.

:

00:49:06,711 --> 00:49:08,211

It depends on what it is

:

00:49:08,236 --> 00:49:08,526

Alexandra: Okay.

:

00:49:09,141 --> 00:49:10,791

Christine: how much leftovers there are.

:

00:49:11,751 --> 00:49:15,321

Like, I love leftover

Chinese food, leftover

:

00:49:15,496 --> 00:49:15,616

Alexandra: Hmm.

:

00:49:15,621 --> 00:49:21,766

Christine: food, not really into

leftover, I don't know, grilled chicken

:

00:49:22,186 --> 00:49:22,486

Alexandra: Fair?

:

00:49:22,636 --> 00:49:22,876

Yeah,

:

00:49:23,686 --> 00:49:24,316

Christine: there's certain

:

00:49:24,601 --> 00:49:24,721

Alexandra: I,

:

00:49:25,546 --> 00:49:27,976

Christine: and then usually I

don't eat it immediately the

:

00:49:27,976 --> 00:49:29,536

next day or for the next meal.

:

00:49:29,566 --> 00:49:30,046

I like to

:

00:49:30,096 --> 00:49:33,696

Alexandra: well then in that case, I feel

like the Indian, what I make makes a lot.

:

00:49:33,696 --> 00:49:37,386

So you could probably free some of it and

then pull it out for another meal later.

:

00:49:37,806 --> 00:49:38,736

Christine: that's a good idea.

:

00:49:38,976 --> 00:49:43,656

Yeah, I, and I love, I feel like

it's not something I would make

:

00:49:43,746 --> 00:49:46,265

often, So I wouldn't mind leftovers.

:

00:49:46,295 --> 00:49:48,005

I've tried the meal prep thing.

:

00:49:50,716 --> 00:49:53,271

It's not I need more variety in my life.

:

00:49:53,481 --> 00:49:57,811

But now that I'm going to be living

with someone, won't feel as mad.

:

00:49:57,881 --> 00:49:59,921

Someone, the food will get

eaten one way or another.

:

00:49:59,951 --> 00:50:01,721

So that's good.

:

00:50:02,426 --> 00:50:03,581

Alexandra: Yeah, absolutely.

:

00:50:04,181 --> 00:50:08,491

Christine: I am excited to be cooking more

and baking more now that I will be living

:

00:50:08,491 --> 00:50:11,821

with somebody because cooking for one,

I think I've talked about this before.

:

00:50:12,751 --> 00:50:13,111

Is hard.

:

00:50:13,261 --> 00:50:16,081

And not being a leftover

person makes it even more

:

00:50:16,276 --> 00:50:16,636

Alexandra: Yeah,

:

00:50:16,681 --> 00:50:19,621

Christine: and food waste

makes me cry and die inside.

:

00:50:19,621 --> 00:50:22,081

So, I never wanna be wasteful.

:

00:50:22,141 --> 00:50:22,471

So

:

00:50:23,321 --> 00:50:23,681

Alexandra: absolutely.

:

00:50:23,761 --> 00:50:27,271

Christine: that leads to girl dinner.

:

00:50:27,511 --> 00:50:32,761

So like it's really, you know, a

hodgepodge of stuff or ordering

:

00:50:32,761 --> 00:50:38,461

in or going out or back to my

parents and letting them feed me.

:

00:50:40,291 --> 00:50:41,791

So, which

:

00:50:41,851 --> 00:50:42,241

Alexandra: nice.

:

00:50:42,451 --> 00:50:42,811

Christine: for me.

:

00:50:42,841 --> 00:50:44,736

And them, I'm pretty sure they like

:

00:50:44,751 --> 00:50:47,031

Alexandra: I get to see you

and, you know, chat with you.

:

00:50:47,031 --> 00:50:47,901

So that's always lovely.

:

00:50:48,776 --> 00:50:49,266

Christine: exactly.

:

00:50:49,513 --> 00:50:51,463

Alexandra: I feel like

that, that covers food.

:

00:50:51,618 --> 00:50:52,758

Christine: that covers food.

:

00:50:52,808 --> 00:50:57,428

I don't think there's anything else

left for us to talk about in that realm.

:

00:50:57,488 --> 00:51:02,138

So in that case, let's close out

this fun summertime convo with

:

00:51:02,558 --> 00:51:04,448

what do we wanna prioritize this

:

00:51:04,883 --> 00:51:06,743

Alexandra, what are you

hoping to prioritize?

:

00:51:06,743 --> 00:51:07,193

I think

:

00:51:07,553 --> 00:51:08,273

Alexandra: I definitely,

:

00:51:08,388 --> 00:51:08,908

Christine: it a little bit.

:

00:51:09,143 --> 00:51:13,613

Alexandra: yeah, definitely talked

about it, but really good food.

:

00:51:13,943 --> 00:51:17,153

Nutritious food for my body,

but also trying new recipes and

:

00:51:17,153 --> 00:51:19,133

things and then moving my body.

:

00:51:19,223 --> 00:51:22,643

I would love to actually develop

a yoga practice again this summer.

:

00:51:23,003 --> 00:51:25,823

As a, as an alternate way to move my body.

:

00:51:25,853 --> 00:51:30,263

'cause I know I've mentioned before, I

have a Peloton and I love, love cycling.

:

00:51:30,653 --> 00:51:33,643

Kind of getting into their strength

content, which is new for me and

:

00:51:33,643 --> 00:51:35,023

it's really good for my body.

:

00:51:35,133 --> 00:51:39,243

So kind of enjoying moving

my body in different ways.

:

00:51:39,513 --> 00:51:44,733

I even tried attempting, and

I say this loosely jogging,

:

00:51:44,913 --> 00:51:46,713

running this past week at work.

:

00:51:47,023 --> 00:51:50,413

Some of my coworkers and I, we

try to walk 30 minutes of our

:

00:51:50,413 --> 00:51:52,063

lunch every day when we can.

:

00:51:52,093 --> 00:51:53,503

But one person couldn't go.

:

00:51:53,503 --> 00:51:55,943

And I wanted to attempt

to jog attempt running.

:

00:51:56,073 --> 00:51:57,693

And let's be honest,

it was mostly jogging.

:

00:51:58,083 --> 00:52:02,553

And later that day, my, my legs were

like, I'm sorry, what are we doing?

:

00:52:02,823 --> 00:52:03,993

We don't move this way.

:

00:52:04,893 --> 00:52:05,493

What have you done?

:

00:52:05,608 --> 00:52:05,828

Christine: Aw.

:

00:52:05,983 --> 00:52:08,863

Alexandra: So I don't think I'll ever

be a runner, but that's something

:

00:52:08,863 --> 00:52:11,503

I'd like to throw in for variety.

:

00:52:11,953 --> 00:52:14,503

And I, I really enjoy moving my body.

:

00:52:14,503 --> 00:52:19,183

I enjoy exercising, so I wanna find

a way to keep that fun and light.

:

00:52:20,083 --> 00:52:23,893

I think a big thing for me is still

carrying over when from our cozy

:

00:52:23,893 --> 00:52:25,723

ketchup, like the urge to purge.

:

00:52:26,023 --> 00:52:29,773

It's been a, not a whole lot of purging

right, lately, but I really wanna

:

00:52:29,773 --> 00:52:33,673

get through my closet and like old

products that I just haven't used.

:

00:52:33,673 --> 00:52:34,663

I'm not using

:

00:52:35,223 --> 00:52:36,633

You mentioned about food waste.

:

00:52:36,633 --> 00:52:41,313

Like sometimes I hate wasting products

that I've spent money on, but at, if I'm

:

00:52:41,313 --> 00:52:44,493

not using it and it's years old, I think

I just need to at some point let it go.

:

00:52:44,613 --> 00:52:48,933

So I think this is a big summer

of letting go and kind of

:

00:52:49,083 --> 00:52:50,733

figuring out how to be present.

:

00:52:51,073 --> 00:52:55,723

I think I spent a lot of time thinking

about the past and concerned and

:

00:52:55,773 --> 00:52:59,333

worrying about the future, that trying

to be present is a goal this summer

:

00:52:59,393 --> 00:53:00,893

and something I want to prioritize.

:

00:53:01,523 --> 00:53:04,423

But yeah, I think that's mostly,

those are the big things this summer.

:

00:53:04,423 --> 00:53:05,233

What about you, Christine?

:

00:53:05,233 --> 00:53:07,303

What are your priorities this summer?

:

00:53:07,842 --> 00:53:11,630

Christine: Well, I think a lot

of with what you were sharing I,

:

00:53:11,779 --> 00:53:17,061

you know, I second and definitely

wanna focus on, self self-care.

:

00:53:17,121 --> 00:53:20,451

I think it's super important and I

think that there's ways you can do it.

:

00:53:20,601 --> 00:53:23,691

At home and make it a

part of your daily ritual.

:

00:53:24,211 --> 00:53:29,911

Love a at home spa night, you know,

taking care of soul and your body.

:

00:53:30,191 --> 00:53:33,851

Getting outside when it's

not too hot later in the day.

:

00:53:34,241 --> 00:53:36,611

Walking just moving your body.

:

00:53:37,601 --> 00:53:40,631

Would love to get in a lot

of swimming when I can.

:

00:53:40,681 --> 00:53:43,741

Whether that's at a pool or at

the beach, I don't necessarily,

:

00:53:44,011 --> 00:53:45,331

probably more so at the beach.

:

00:53:45,331 --> 00:53:47,251

I don't necessarily have a

pool I can go to right now.

:

00:53:48,661 --> 00:53:49,441

What else?

:

00:53:49,531 --> 00:53:57,571

And I too will be needing to work

on purging a bit because with this

:

00:53:57,571 --> 00:54:01,531

move, it's a perfect opportunity

for me to go through everything.

:

00:54:01,711 --> 00:54:06,421

Get rid of things that I just don't

need anymore or have expired when

:

00:54:06,421 --> 00:54:11,641

it comes to products or clothes

that you don't wear or, you know.

:

00:54:12,046 --> 00:54:14,296

Furniture you don't need,

whatever the case may be.

:

00:54:14,446 --> 00:54:20,266

So that will be on my summer, probably

what I'll be doing most of June.

:

00:54:20,746 --> 00:54:21,196

So

:

00:54:21,661 --> 00:54:21,991

Alexandra: Yeah.

:

00:54:22,526 --> 00:54:23,456

Christine: That's kind of the plan.

:

00:54:24,041 --> 00:54:27,031

Alexandra: Any other last

things about Summer that you're

:

00:54:27,031 --> 00:54:29,471

hoping to do, accomplish fit in?

:

00:54:29,948 --> 00:54:34,094

Christine: well, as I just shared,

like the big priority will be the move.

:

00:54:34,524 --> 00:54:39,144

And then beyond that, prioritizing.

:

00:54:40,074 --> 00:54:42,294

mental and physical wellness.

:

00:54:42,364 --> 00:54:46,474

Reading and learning something

new is always something I want

:

00:54:46,474 --> 00:54:52,024

to, you know, prioritize and bring

more into my day-to-day practices.

:

00:54:52,024 --> 00:54:54,664

You know, keeping your mind

sharp as well as your body.

:

00:54:55,144 --> 00:55:00,929

And then I'd still really like to try

and plan a road trip early, early fall

:

00:55:01,469 --> 00:55:03,809

up maybe up the coast up to Maine.

:

00:55:03,809 --> 00:55:04,499

I've never been to

:

00:55:04,899 --> 00:55:09,079

And I was talking, I was with my

mom and my aunt earlier this past

:

00:55:09,079 --> 00:55:13,069

week and we were chitchatting and I

was sharing some exciting changes.

:

00:55:13,099 --> 00:55:17,209

The fact that I'm most likely moving

and that the travel plans have

:

00:55:17,209 --> 00:55:22,159

been shifting around and that I'm

thinking about doing road trip up

:

00:55:22,159 --> 00:55:23,419

to Maine 'cause I've never been.

:

00:55:23,419 --> 00:55:27,859

And she shared that grand, my

grandmother Gram, I call her Gram,

:

00:55:27,979 --> 00:55:30,139

she kept all of her old itineraries.

:

00:55:30,199 --> 00:55:35,179

So I thought that could be kind of

like a cool, Cool trip that I can sort

:

00:55:35,179 --> 00:55:40,119

of do is and emulate what I do after

what she's done and go and experience

:

00:55:40,119 --> 00:55:41,769

those places that she always loved.

:

00:55:42,219 --> 00:55:44,019

So that's what I'm thinking about doing.

:

00:55:44,019 --> 00:55:46,689

I gotta figure out how to work

that in to everything else

:

00:55:46,689 --> 00:55:47,829

that'll be going on this summer.

:

00:55:47,829 --> 00:55:48,099

But

:

00:55:48,939 --> 00:55:49,509

Alexandra: Nice.

:

00:55:49,509 --> 00:55:50,949

Christine: what I,

that's what I'm thinking.

:

00:55:51,429 --> 00:55:51,969

Alexandra: Very cool.

:

00:55:52,399 --> 00:55:53,569

Christine: What other things you got going

:

00:55:53,869 --> 00:55:56,089

Alexandra: I think other than what

we've already mentioned, I think

:

00:55:56,089 --> 00:55:58,939

there's a couple like home improvement

projects that I'd like to get done.

:

00:55:58,939 --> 00:56:01,639

So if you can see the bookshelf

next to me that Christine very

:

00:56:01,969 --> 00:56:06,219

kindly helped me style I will have

to take down and put into boxes.

:

00:56:06,694 --> 00:56:07,324

I did.

:

00:56:07,324 --> 00:56:08,764

They are somewhere on my phone.

:

00:56:08,764 --> 00:56:11,944

I might have to go back and delete

them and then take new pictures closer.

:

00:56:12,394 --> 00:56:13,654

Not that I don't want the bookshelf.

:

00:56:13,654 --> 00:56:17,614

I Christinas I am actually

almost already busting out of

:

00:56:17,614 --> 00:56:18,724

the seams at this bookshelf.

:

00:56:19,294 --> 00:56:24,034

But it currently has a back on it and

so like rerecord and I'm filming in my

:

00:56:24,034 --> 00:56:27,064

room and it's, I've got like my bed on

the other side of the bookshelf and then

:

00:56:27,114 --> 00:56:29,854

this officey other space in my bedroom.

:

00:56:30,154 --> 00:56:32,854

And I'd really like to take the

back of the bookshelf so that more

:

00:56:32,854 --> 00:56:34,144

natural light can come through.

:

00:56:34,924 --> 00:56:38,884

And theoretically maybe I can have

more of the bookshelf 'cause I could

:

00:56:38,884 --> 00:56:40,474

then have books on either side.

:

00:56:41,524 --> 00:56:42,694

So that's a big one.

:

00:56:42,804 --> 00:56:45,354

So mostly I wanna take off the

back and lift it up a little bit.

:

00:56:45,454 --> 00:56:49,764

And then, you know, painting my room

'cause I'm not totally loving the cinnamon

:

00:56:49,764 --> 00:56:53,574

brown with the darker army EU forest.

:

00:56:53,634 --> 00:56:55,624

Not quite forest green going on here.

:

00:56:55,624 --> 00:56:57,634

So just some home improvement.

:

00:56:57,634 --> 00:56:58,474

Christine: are you thinking?

:

00:56:58,789 --> 00:57:00,319

Alexandra: I don't know if anyone

can see it, but that kinda like

:

00:57:00,319 --> 00:57:04,199

light gray of the loft area is

kind of what I would love to do.

:

00:57:04,199 --> 00:57:10,649

And then maybe an accent color of a

more true forest green or some sort

:

00:57:10,649 --> 00:57:15,229

of maybe like a textured wallpaper

that is, has like a black background

:

00:57:15,229 --> 00:57:17,059

with some really vivid colors on it.

:

00:57:17,369 --> 00:57:18,779

Only on one wall or something.

:

00:57:18,779 --> 00:57:20,059

So I think that might be pretty.

:

00:57:20,059 --> 00:57:23,019

And then I could do like accents

of like forest really, apparently

:

00:57:23,019 --> 00:57:24,219

I'm into forest green right now.

:

00:57:25,019 --> 00:57:29,029

So, or those are some of the big projects

that I'd like to hopefully accomplish

:

00:57:29,029 --> 00:57:31,249

this summer in amidst everything else.

:

00:57:32,064 --> 00:57:32,874

Christine: Of course.

:

00:57:33,024 --> 00:57:33,739

That sounds great.

:

00:57:33,909 --> 00:57:34,479

Alexandra: Yeah.

:

00:57:34,699 --> 00:57:38,684

Christine: have to do like a little

update maybe sometime in September or

:

00:57:39,059 --> 00:57:41,064

Was what did we get up to this summer?

:

00:57:41,544 --> 00:57:44,124

Alexandra: It will be a great,

you know, mental thing of okay, I

:

00:57:44,124 --> 00:57:48,564

have to have it done by then, you

know, be like, okay, stick to it.

:

00:57:48,564 --> 00:57:49,044

Get it done.

:

00:57:49,404 --> 00:57:49,644

So

:

00:57:49,944 --> 00:57:50,334

Christine: Yeah.

:

00:57:50,739 --> 00:57:51,369

Awesome.

:

00:57:51,609 --> 00:57:52,509

Alright, cool.

:

00:57:52,719 --> 00:57:53,109

Love it.

:

00:57:53,529 --> 00:57:54,999

Well, I'm ready for summer to start now.

:

00:57:55,059 --> 00:57:55,509

Let's go.

:

00:57:56,304 --> 00:57:57,264

Alexandra: we're already in summer.

:

00:57:57,828 --> 00:58:00,468

All right everyone, and that brings

us to the end of our love letter.

:

00:58:00,468 --> 00:58:04,908

Just summer, a season that's never just

about the sunshine, but about the memories

:

00:58:04,908 --> 00:58:08,628

we make, the simple joys we savor, and

the intentions we set for ourselves.

:

00:58:08,958 --> 00:58:12,078

Whether it's a favorite place, a

favorite flavor, or a quiet moment

:

00:58:12,078 --> 00:58:13,278

you're claiming just for you.

:

00:58:13,368 --> 00:58:16,818

We hope this inspires you to lean fully

into what lights you up this season.

:

00:58:17,388 --> 00:58:21,348

Next week, we'll be taking an even deeper

journey into the work of healing inherited

:

00:58:21,348 --> 00:58:25,818

wounds and how choosing to heal can open

doors we didn't even realize were closed.

:

00:58:26,148 --> 00:58:29,598

It's a conversation about reclaiming

your story, and we can't wait

:

00:58:29,598 --> 00:58:30,618

to walk through it with you.

:

00:58:31,458 --> 00:58:35,418

Until then, may your days be a little

slower, your heart, a little lighter, and

:

00:58:35,418 --> 00:58:37,338

your summer, everything you need it to be.

:

00:58:37,548 --> 00:58:38,448

See you next week.
