Personal Journeys and Interests

In this section, we discuss our initial forays into the world of metaphysics and witchy practices. We explore a range of topics under this mystical umbrella, including spiritual practices like meditation and energy work, witchcraft elements such as divination and rituals, pagan traditions, and various metaphysical philosophies. We share how we each became interested in these areas, recounting our first experiences and the personal journeys that led us to explore these paths. We also address common misconceptions and how we handle skepticism from others, providing a grounded perspective on these often misunderstood practices.

Astrology, Crystals, Tarot/Cards, & More

We dive deeper into the specifics of popular mystical practices. We start with astrology, explaining the basics everyone should know and how it can be used in daily life. Then we move on to crystals, discussing their purported benefits and how to incorporate them into daily routines for healing and energy work. We also delve into card readings, comparing different systems such as Tarot, Oracle, etc., and explaining briefly how they work. Additionally, we touch on energy healing practices and the journey of psychic development, offering a basic overview of how these practices could enrich your spiritual life.

Christine:

Hello, and welcome to The Mirror Project.

2

:

We are your hosts, Christine,

3

:

And Alexandra.

4

:

Christine: and we are so

glad you're joining us.

5

:

Today we invite you to join us on a

journey through the enchanting realms of

6

:

spirituality, witchcraft, and metaphysics.

7

:

We'll share our personal stories of how

we discover these fascinating topics,

8

:

and dispel some common misconceptions.

9

:

Whether you're curious about the basics

of astrology, the healing power of

10

:

crystals, or the insights of tarot and

other card readings, this episode promises

11

:

a fun, light, and mystical experience.

12

:

So get comfy.

13

:

Open your mind and let's

dive into the magic together.

14

:

Alexandra: Before we delve into today's

riveting topic, make sure to hit that

15

:

like subscribe or follow button on

your favorite listening platform.

16

:

Take a moment to do it now

before it slips your mind.

17

:

Trust us.

18

:

We're not getting started without you.

19

:

Let's make this journey together.

20

:

Christine: This is quite a vast topic

we're tackling today but I think

21

:

our general goal is to sort of just

start an introduction to this and

22

:

what better way to do that than sort

of start talking about our personal

23

:

journeys and our interests related

to all these different things.

24

:

So, Alexandra, why don't you sort

of give us, An idea of what sort

25

:

of falls under the umbrella of the

topics we'll be discussing today.

26

:

Alexandra: Oh, well,

obviously so many, right?

27

:

Like just within

spirituality and metaphysics.

28

:

Okay.

29

:

So spirituality can include anything

from different walks of belief systems,

30

:

but also meditation, mindfulness, things

to energy work, spiritual healing.

31

:

I was kind of covered under that umbrella,

which I think we've done a really good

32

:

job of kind of briefly touching throughout

us doing this podcast since February.

33

:

I mean, even from our mantras and sayings

episode to, oh gosh, many of that.

34

:

I mean, even last week when we talked

about music and its ability to manifest

35

:

things, if that's You know, so we

do a good job of touching on that.

36

:

Witchy stuff is very kind of a fun word.

37

:

I love that.

38

:

Just witchy.

39

:

I'm very witchy.

40

:

Anyways, but witchcraft

Wicca, two different things.

41

:

Witchcraft is the practice of

magic and Wicca is a belief

42

:

system, a belief a faith.

43

:

So many Wiccans practice witchcraft,

but they can be very much separated out.

44

:

Magic, divination which can be things

like card reading tassomancy, geomancy,

45

:

like any of the mancies, lack of a

better word can be under divination.

46

:

Uh, Herbalism, rituals, celebrating

sabbats, all that kind of

47

:

things fall under divination.

48

:

kind of that broad umbrella.

49

:

And then of course, you know,

I've mentioned before paganism.

50

:

I mean, there's different polytheistic

traditions from Hellenic pagans.

51

:

So more of those who believe

in the Greco Roman pantheons,

52

:

Saxon pagans, Celtic Nordic.

53

:

I mean, so many as well as that come

out of Africa and I mean, South America.

54

:

So there's many different Beliefs and

the benefit I think of neo paganism.

55

:

So more of like modern day is you

don't necessarily have to grow up in

56

:

a tradition to follow that tradition.

57

:

So I mean, like including things

like ancestral veneration,

58

:

which not everyone does seasonal

festivals the wheel of the year.

59

:

individual and eclectic practices by

borrowing, creating your own combination

60

:

of, and then of course, metaphysics.

61

:

So philosophical inquiry, law of

attraction and manifestation using

62

:

crystals and gemstones to enhance your

practice and work to astrology and

63

:

psychic abilities, which all, I think

all of these at some point kind of just

64

:

a hodgepodge together at least for me.

65

:

So that's just a brief.

66

:

But not so brief touching on what

is even under some of this umbrella.

67

:

And I'm know that there's

more I haven't even covered.

68

:

So I'm sure if some of our listeners

out there are also interested in

69

:

stuff, they could totally add into this

list of what's under this umbrella.

70

:

Christine: I mean, if we really

think about it, this whole topic

71

:

could be its own podcast all on

its own because there's so much to

72

:

sort of decipher and learn about.

73

:

And at the end, we're going

to share some great resources.

74

:

And both Alexander and I listen to a

podcast that I think we both highly

75

:

recommend that sort of just give a nice

sort of look into this whole world.

76

:

If you are curious about

learning more about it all.

77

:

Alexandra: I know that we've,

Definitely mentioned it on the podcast.

78

:

I think when I

79

:

during our Q and a, I

80

:

Christine: Yes.

81

:

Yes.

82

:

Definitely.

83

:

So we'll remind you all of that later.

84

:

All right, thank you for giving

that great quick summary of what's

85

:

falling under this discussion today.

86

:

So I think a great way to, a great

place to start is share how we

87

:

became interested in these topics.

88

:

I know, Alexandra, you, you've had you've

been on this journey a lot longer than

89

:

I have and have introduced me to a lot.

90

:

So I'd love for you to kick

us off and share your story.

91

:

Alexandra: sure.

92

:

Okay.

93

:

So I don't know if I've mentioned

it on this podcast, but if I have

94

:

just bear with me and I repeat.

95

:

Christine: It's a good reminder.

96

:

Alexandra: So I began

my journey when I was.

97

:

I want to say around 15 years old

and, but probably even before that,

98

:

because I remember sitting in Sunday

school, asking the Sunday school

99

:

teacher if there's father, the God,

where's mother earth or the mother?

100

:

And she was like, Oh no,

we don't do that here.

101

:

And I must've been really

small to be in Sunday school.

102

:

And so at that point we were going

to a Lutheran church because my

103

:

mom was raised Roman Catholic.

104

:

My dad was raised Southern Baptist,

neither wanted me to be the other.

105

:

So they ended up baptizing me Lutheran

cause you know, that made sense.

106

:

And

107

:

So then after that whole conversation,

I ended up just going to church and

108

:

sitting in church with my parents on

Sundays, never feeling really connected

109

:

and going, this doesn't make sense.

110

:

This doesn't feel right for

me, which is the benefit of.

111

:

I don't know, living today.

112

:

We can have a lot more freedom of choice

when it comes to choosing how we believe.

113

:

And what we believe.

114

:

And at some point we stopped going.

115

:

I don't really know why, but

it just never felt right to me.

116

:

And so then when I was like my

angsty young teenager self, I,

117

:

Christine: As we all are

118

:

at some point.

119

:

Alexandra: right.

120

:

I met my godmother's daughter who had

kind of introduced me to a metaphysical

121

:

shop, which I haven't been to since I've

lived in California, but it was my like

122

:

first introduction into metaphysics.

123

:

And that was really.

124

:

Very pivotal for me.

125

:

I actually wear a pentacle pendant

that I got when I was a teenager.

126

:

Actually, this might be a replacement,

but it's the same one that her daughter

127

:

was wearing because the symbol and the

imagery was just so clean and elegant

128

:

to me that it was it felt right.

129

:

And so my introduction really

began mostly with Tarot because

130

:

I was really interested in it.

131

:

And I know I've mentioned, I think I've

mentioned previously on this podcast

132

:

that I got into it, but then fell out

because it was difficult in the sense

133

:

that it was a lot of cards to learn

the meaning and never, and feeling

134

:

very, you know, insecure and like that

I could ever do something like this.

135

:

And so I ended up putting,

figuring out that wasn't Christian

136

:

and paganism just made the most

sense, felt the most right to me.

137

:

So I was like, okay, this is me, but

I never really did anything with it

138

:

beyond you know, identifying like

this is more of what I believe.

139

:

And so when I went off to college,

I thought I would be a bit more

140

:

open to exploring and I just dove

headfirst into college activities and

141

:

finishing out, you know, my degree.

142

:

So then again, got put on the back burner

and I would read and study along the way,

143

:

still kind of keeping up my interest, but

never really diving feet first into it

144

:

until I met a group when I moved down to

North Carolina with who reintroduced me

145

:

to a lot and just started my exploration.

146

:

So that's really how I started.

147

:

I started mostly with tarot and, the Greek

pantheon and going, okay, traditions and

148

:

paganism and an interest in witchcraft,

but not really taking it further.

149

:

So Christine, after, since

I've shared now, how about you

150

:

Christine: Oh,

151

:

Alexandra: how did you get

interested in this realm of topics?

152

:

Christine: Okay, so I mentioned

this several times but I'll

153

:

bring it up here again since

it is where I start my journey.

154

:

I grew up Catholic.

155

:

I went to Catholic elementary

school, middle school, high

156

:

school, and where Alexandra and

I met was a Catholic university.

157

:

Was surrounded by Catholicism.

158

:

I was raised that way.

159

:

And as I started to get older, I

was questioning a lot of the things

160

:

I was being taught and actually

thinking back on it, I was questioning

161

:

things at a really early age.

162

:

Like I think maybe, I don't know

however old you are in second grade,

163

:

which is I think six or seven.

164

:

And That's when in the Catholic faith you

go through the sacrament of communion.

165

:

So I started to question things, but never

really thought much of it as I, when I was

166

:

younger, because that was my environment.

167

:

I was surrounded by it.

168

:

We went to church every Saturday.

169

:

My.

170

:

Mother and my father, but I think my

mother when we were kids was really

171

:

sort of the steward of our faith for

me and my, for me and my two sisters.

172

:

but something never felt right, but there

was things that I did enjoy about it.

173

:

Like I enjoyed learning about Mary,

angels, certain saints and their story and

174

:

their journey and the sacrifices that they

made for something bigger than themselves.

175

:

Like that to me was so inspiring and

confounding at the same time because it,

176

:

you know, as a kid, you're like, it's

hard to imagine something bigger than,

177

:

You know, you're the world around you.

178

:

But anyway, once I started college again,

another Catholic institution, but that

179

:

was really where my world expanded because

even though it was a Catholic university

180

:

it was still liberal arts school.

181

:

So there were many people from

all sorts of walks of life

182

:

that I started to get to meet.

183

:

That's where we met.

184

:

And when you came into my life, that's

really when I, you know, Sort of

185

:

began to discover a whole new world.

186

:

When I began to discover a whole new

world of spirituality, essentially that

187

:

didn't really need to be dependent on any.

188

:

Faith institution, shall we say, because

I discovered that there were a lot of

189

:

things that I didn't really vibe with

when it came to the Catholic church as

190

:

an institution, I think, you know, like

anything when things start out with

191

:

the best of intentions, well, you know,

things evolve and change over time.

192

:

Anyway, that's a whole

nother conversation.

193

:

Alexandra: What did I say

about that road to hell?

194

:

Christine: exactly.

195

:

So college was really the first time I

was able to start letting go of the parts

196

:

of myself that were no longer serving

me and that I was holding on to because

197

:

I thought I was supposed to, to to be a

good person and to, I don't know, I just,

198

:

that's what I was raised to believe.

199

:

And as our friendship grew.

200

:

think we were able to learn

from each other and are on a

201

:

parallel spiritual journey.

202

:

There's certain things we learn are

learning with together, but also

203

:

we're experiencing things differently

and I just love how we can come

204

:

together and talk about that.

205

:

So yeah, I, from there, Alexandra

introduced me, I think to

206

:

sort of go into this next.

207

:

This part of the question, which is our

first experiences around metaphysics

208

:

and which he practices back in 2020 is

when I first decided I want to sort of

209

:

delve deeper into this because after

college, there was and I, and my first

210

:

year of working, there was a pretty major.

211

:

Thing that happened in my life

that left me questioning a lot.

212

:

And I found that I didn't find comfort

in my faith and spirituality anymore.

213

:

So I was floating kind of floating

aimlessly for a while, but because

214

:

I was just out of college, starting

a new job focused on friends and.

215

:

You know, being an adult in the

real world, I was able to distract

216

:

myself really easily, but cut to

:

217

:

We all have a lot of

extra time on our hands.

218

:

So I, it was a perfect opportunity

for me to Finally figure out, okay,

219

:

I don't want to feel lost anymore.

220

:

I don't want to feel

like I'm floating around.

221

:

So like, where do you want to

begin Christine in terms of finding

222

:

some sort of spiritual connection?

223

:

Cause I've always felt very

connected to spiritual, like a

224

:

spiritual source in some capacity.

225

:

I just knew that it wasn't.

226

:

Catholicism anymore.

227

:

So I turned to you and I was like,

Alexandra, I want to learn about tarot.

228

:

And she was like, Oh my gosh, yay.

229

:

Let's get started.

230

:

And we started setting up little

Shall we call them tarot dates

231

:

where we talked on the phone or did

FaceTime and she was really great.

232

:

She gave me great information

in terms of where to start in

233

:

terms of understanding tarot.

234

:

So that's kind of what's started,

which was sort of like the jumping off

235

:

point for this whole journey for me.

236

:

And it's only grown from there.

237

:

I'll stop talking now, but,

238

:

that just sort of led into, you know,

curiosity about crystals and a newfound

239

:

desire to learn about astrology.

240

:

I then found a connection

to Oracle readings.

241

:

So it was a perfect opportunity that

I was glad to sort of latch on to at a

242

:

time when I found I really needed it.

243

:

So

244

:

Alexandra: I'm glad to

have shared my first

245

:

Christine: Yes.

246

:

Alexandra: and how that, and have

that be one of your starting points as

247

:

Christine: Yes, definitely.

248

:

Alexandra: You know, it's funny you

saying that I remember the metaphysical

249

:

shop I went to in California.

250

:

I can still picture walking in there

and I had my first reading with a

251

:

psychic medium when I was probably

15 and he was incredible, but he had

252

:

told me to get a goddess figuring

candle and put some of this power

253

:

oil and some herbs and stuff on it.

254

:

I have had that candle.

255

:

Since I was 15 and not even kidding you.

256

:

I think I finally burned

that candle maybe in January

257

:

Christine: Oh, wow.

258

:

Alexandra: So that's been through three

259

:

moves with

260

:

Christine: why did you wait?

261

:

Do you, you know,

262

:

why

263

:

Alexandra: Yeah, I was in my own way.

264

:

I mean,

265

:

Christine: can relate?

266

:

Alexandra: happy to delve

into this as we continue this

267

:

conversation, but it's

one of those things that

268

:

I think we become ready for things

when we're ready for it, whether

269

:

you want to call it divine timing,

confirmation bias, just whatever.

270

:

I was not ready to burn.

271

:

It was not ready to deal with it.

272

:

Didn't want to.

273

:

And then finally, I'm at a

point in my life where I've

274

:

been working on myself with.

275

:

All of this realm, but also as I've

mentioned on this podcast before therapy.

276

:

So I was finally in the right place to

say, okay, I'm done hoping for I'm done

277

:

wishing for I'm going to make something

happen with my life by taking action.

278

:

And then part of that action

was actually burning that candle

279

:

Christine: Right.

280

:

Sure.

281

:

Alexandra: and the oil and the things

that he had suggested when I was 15.

282

:

So this was over a decade ago.

283

:

So this is by note, I will say

if people are interested in this.

284

:

this.

285

:

is not unlike Catholicism or other

major monotheistic practices.

286

:

It's a journey.

287

:

It's a long time.

288

:

I don't know.

289

:

Commitment in a way.

290

:

It's definitely not something

like snap and you're,

291

:

you know, you're there

which I think too much.

292

:

My disappointment when it's certainly

when it comes to learning about things,

293

:

I'm like, I want to learn it all.

294

:

And I want to know it

295

:

Christine: Yes.

296

:

Alexandra: So it's

something that unfolds over

297

:

Christine: yeah, definitely.

298

:

And it has, it ebbs and flows.

299

:

Like I would say I've been sort of

stalled a little bit for lack of a

300

:

better term, I guess, in my current

journey, but you know, it's definitely

301

:

something that's always with me.

302

:

And I feel like.

303

:

I just really appreciated that I was

able to take the power back, you know,

304

:

because I think for me when I was growing

up I never really saw my faith as mine.

305

:

If that makes sense, it

was my family's faith.

306

:

It was how I grew up but

it wasn't necessarily mine.

307

:

When I was able to realize that

was okay and that I wasn't going

308

:

to burn in hell for it, it

would just was very empowering.

309

:

And, you know, ultimately I found that

my connection to nature and the spiritual

310

:

world was, it was very intertwined.

311

:

And I look forward to diving more into

that throughout this conversation, but why

312

:

don't we Talk a little bit about I think

Alexandra you're the perfect person for

313

:

this and sort of give us a little insight

into what are some common misconceptions

314

:

about metaphysical practices and

like how do you address skepticism or

315

:

misunderstanding from other people?

316

:

Alexandra: Well, I know we've

definitely talked about that

317

:

recently on our what is dating episode.

318

:

Okay.

319

:

So some common misconceptions if you're

wear a pentacle or a pentagram, which

320

:

is an inverse version of the pentacle.

321

:

So where the fifth point is at the

bottom, neither are an evil symbol.

322

:

I will say that neither are an evil

symbol, they both have different

323

:

functions within witchcraft.

324

:

A pentagram where more commonly

where the point is facing down can

325

:

be a very grounding bringing energy

back into the ground to purify

326

:

like dispelling excess energy.

327

:

pentacles with the point upright,

very much a symbol of protection.

328

:

There's even a way to draw

the pentacle and the circle

329

:

without, with only one point.

330

:

And that kind of comes to the idea

of only having one point of weakness

331

:

in something when you draw it,

whether it's physical protection.

332

:

So I would just say that's the big thing.

333

:

Also, don't ask people with a five pointed

star if they're Jewish, I feel like

334

:

that's just count the, know the points.

335

:

It's simple.

336

:

I mean, honestly, people

who practice witchcraft has

337

:

nothing to do with Satanism.

338

:

That's a big one I've

encountered personally.

339

:

I had so many friends in high school who

knew I was very much into all of this.

340

:

And when I mentioned I was going to Seton

Hall And a Catholic university and they

341

:

all went, Oh, are you going to Satan hall?

342

:

And I was like, you

think you're so clever.

343

:

Christine: You never told me that

344

:

Alexandra: so

345

:

that wasn't an, that

wasn't an uncommon one.

346

:

I heard, but yeah, it's not Satanism.

347

:

That's a different thing.

348

:

And I actually don't know

a whole lot about that.

349

:

So I'm not going to even speak to it.

350

:

Other than that,

witchcraft is not Satanism.

351

:

Please people stop.

352

:

If you know people who say that, it's

just not that it's all the same.

353

:

that every different non monotheistic

practice uses the same basis.

354

:

And it's not, I mean, a lot of, you'll

see a lot of different ideas repeat

355

:

through different areas in different

parts of the world, which is very awesome.

356

:

And it's kind of amazing that

we have access to the internet

357

:

and so many different resources

now that we can learn about it.

358

:

Yeah, we're, it's not crazy.

359

:

I think that's one of the big things like

particularly Christine, you've mentioned

360

:

astrology and some of the things I've

misconceptions I've gotten about that.

361

:

It's Oh, it's just,

you know, it's hogwash.

362

:

It's nonsense.

363

:

It's you know, bullshit.

364

:

I've heard it all.

365

:

Right.

366

:

And I'm like, okay.

367

:

Sure.

368

:

At this point, I'm into my life where

I'm like, if you want to believe

369

:

that, then you believe that I'm

not here to change your opinions or

370

:

misconceptions of if people don't

want to learn, I do not have to share.

371

:

But I also have come to a point where I

don't have to take people's crap anymore.

372

:

I'm just like, all right,

you know, moving on or.

373

:

Ending a conversation.

374

:

I mean, that's a really easy thing.

375

:

And I can say that having been, when

I was 15 and part of why I stepped

376

:

away was I felt so defensive about it

because, I don't know that I was super

377

:

secure in what I knew and in my journey

of learning about and growing into.

378

:

So how I address skepticism and

misunderstanding now is um, If people

379

:

have questions, I love to talk about it.

380

:

I mean, don't be surprised if my

mouth is running a mile a minute

381

:

at some point in this episode.

382

:

But yeah, I will ask more pointed

questions of, Oh, why do you think that?

383

:

If they're like, Oh, this is just

bullshit, particularly in terms

384

:

of astrology or it's Oh, people

who believe that are nonsense.

385

:

I'm like, okay.

386

:

Why do you think that?

387

:

Tell me why.

388

:

And they're like, well, it's all nonsense.

389

:

I'm like, okay.

390

:

So thousands of years of studies of

the skies and people's planets and

391

:

charts who do this people across

history, they've looked at them, you

392

:

know, it's movements and planets and

understanding how that impacts us.

393

:

And it's also so much

deeper than just a sun sign.

394

:

And so people who are open to that

conversation, they'll ask, and

395

:

then I'll explain some things.

396

:

And I go, as I start to

explain the go, Oh, wow.

397

:

There is a lot more to that,

or even with Tarot and Oracle.

398

:

I've had people come up to me

for readings and they ask, Oh,

399

:

well, I'm looking for this.

400

:

I'm like, well, I don't

actually do that specifically.

401

:

If I know somebody, I'll direct you

to another reader or somebody who

402

:

does that, but this is how I do.

403

:

And they're like, Oh, okay.

404

:

And tell me more.

405

:

I think part of it is people who.

406

:

Don't have a lot of interaction with

these topics, think they know what

407

:

it's, and so that can often cause fear

or outright projection, which is fine.

408

:

So when people approach, they don't

really know what they're asking.

409

:

And so it's up to people who maybe

do know to be more open to sharing.

410

:

So that would, that is what I would say.

411

:

Just kind of saying,

okay, you're skeptical.

412

:

I don't need to sit

here and defend myself.

413

:

I can move and I'm starting to

meet more people now who are in.

414

:

Interested in these topics

and share these interests.

415

:

So that's the beauty of it now.

416

:

But yeah, before I

think I really shut down

417

:

and I was like, let people's

misconceptions and judgments

418

:

of what something was prevent

me from further going down, you

419

:

know, this path and learning more.

420

:

So I was very stuck.

421

:

But it also, I think, comes from People

being scared to explore different things.

422

:

So that's how I deal with

423

:

it.

424

:

Christine: All right, cool.

425

:

I agree.

426

:

I would say maybe because I've come

to this at a later PO point in my life

427

:

I've been very blessed in that I have a

lot of support from friends and family

428

:

who have seen me start this journey.

429

:

I haven't necessarily felt, any

sort of judgment from anyone.

430

:

I will say, thinking back on it,

this doesn't necessarily relate to

431

:

metaphysics or astrology or anything

that we're about to talk to you today.

432

:

But I just remember like when we were

in high school, that was the era of

433

:

twilight and it was like, when the.

434

:

Vampires were wolves.

435

:

There was true blood.

436

:

There was a vampire diaries.

437

:

There was a secret circle.

438

:

There was all of this sort of storytelling

coming out in terms of film and

439

:

television around these mythical creatures

and I being very much interested.

440

:

I mean, I went through twilight phase

who hasn't if you grew up in you

441

:

were in middle high school, if you

were in middle school or high school

442

:

in 2008, who wasn't into twilight.

443

:

I just remember somebody sort

of saying Oh, it's interesting

444

:

that Christine's fascinated by,

or like into vampires and stuff.

445

:

And just I thought I never really

questioned it personally because

446

:

it was just, I don't know cool.

447

:

And what was, what my friends

and I were into at the time.

448

:

I just, for whatever reason you,

you telling your story about In your

449

:

experience I just sort of was like, Oh, I

don't necessarily have anything related to

450

:

this, but here's a funny little anecdote.

451

:

Anyway

452

:

Alexandra: Wait.

453

:

Do you mind if I

454

:

backtrack for a minute?

455

:

Christine: which.

456

:

Alexandra: of this and shut

down and you sharing that story.

457

:

I was like, Oh yeah, I didn't mention it.

458

:

Cause don't love to revisit that time.

459

:

I had gone out to North Carolina

when I was living in California

460

:

to visit my dad's family.

461

:

I came on a solo trip.

462

:

Christine's heard the

story many, many a time.

463

:

And I too, very much into Twilight at the

time and other books of that genre, really

464

:

kind of starting to explore different,

know, books of that genre that kind of

465

:

tapped into that creativity and that

place of imagination which I love and I

466

:

mean, hell, I still read fantasy today.

467

:

I'd come out on that trip and

genuinely don't remember what

468

:

brought up the conversation.

469

:

And this wasn't when I was like, okay,

I was exploring and learning a little

470

:

bit about different things and going,

okay, I don't feel like I'm Christian.

471

:

That doesn't feel right.

472

:

But what am I?

473

:

And I think I'm leaning more

towards the Greek gods, like that,

474

:

the belief in that made more sense

to me and that was possible then.

475

:

What I was learning in church or

had been prior to not going anymore.

476

:

And somebody, my cousin had said

477

:

something.

478

:

I can't even remember the exact

words at this point, but something

479

:

along the lines of, because I read

Twilight, a fictional book about

480

:

vampires, I was going to go to hell.

481

:

That was it.

482

:

And I think that kind of just

shook me in terms of, we talked

483

:

about misconceptions or People

judging you for liking something.

484

:

And it was really funny because as

an older teenager and Latin, one

485

:

of the times I visited, they were

watching Harry Potter and I'm like, how

486

:

Christine: Which when that first came out,

a lot of, you know, Christian communities

487

:

were very much let's ban Harry Potter.

488

:

So it's just the hypocrisy,

the irony all of that.

489

:

Alexandra: it was

490

:

real.

491

:

It was real.

492

:

So that was part of why I kind of

shut down it in a very because.

493

:

Much became like a solitary exploration.

494

:

I didn't feel like I had a whole lot of

people until I had met my godmother's

495

:

daughter and really starting to explore.

496

:

And so I had gotten my necklace.

497

:

I was really starting to delve

into tarot and all this stuff and

498

:

going, okay, this feels right to me.

499

:

This feels yes.

500

:

And I had told my mom about it and I have

a very open relationship with my mother.

501

:

We talked about a lot.

502

:

Not so much with my dad because I

never had that same sense of openness

503

:

in terms of talking about things

that I was interested in, and that

504

:

was outside of a stereotypical norm.

505

:

And so I think I was around 15 at

the same time I had said to dad, I

506

:

was like, what if I told you I wasn't

Christian and that in fact I was pagan

507

:

and this is what I believe and more, I

want to learn more and practice more.

508

:

And his words really

impacted me at a young age.

509

:

And it was anything is

better than being a pagan.

510

:

And.

511

:

That really hurt.

512

:

I mean, I really felt okay, somebody

I love and who loves me doesn't accept

513

:

this part of me or doesn't whatever.

514

:

So that was part of the reason

that I even shut down and I would

515

:

learn about it peripherally, but it

didn't spend a lot of time and focus

516

:

on it as much as I had wanted to.

517

:

And About two years, two, three years

prior to my dad's passing, I really

518

:

was more open about exploring this

and not even exploring, but delving

519

:

back into and getting into it again.

520

:

And he was starting to ask me questions

and not just be okay with it, but

521

:

actively interested in whether he didn't

believe the same way, but Learning

522

:

about what I was learning and talking

to me and being more open about those

523

:

conversations, which is awesome.

524

:

And my mom later explained to me, I

think maybe before, but definitely

525

:

after his passing, he said that when

I was 15, because of his own fear of

526

:

when he grew up, what that was like,

like what that meant for people and

527

:

his own misconceptions about something.

528

:

And it's just interesting because

we can say something and it can

529

:

greatly impact somebody else

without it really being about that.

530

:

Other person, but but yeah,

that was, sorry, that brought

531

:

up some stuff and I was

532

:

like, oh yeah,

533

:

I forgot about that because I don't

often think about it, but yeah, I mean,

534

:

Christine: Well, like you said

535

:

Alexandra: anyways.

536

:

Christine: That's no wonder you sort

of went through a phase of shutting

537

:

down and not necessarily exploring

that because, you know, that someone

538

:

who has been a very influential person

in your life and You know, you never

539

:

want to feel like you're disappointed,

a disappointment to your parents or

540

:

you're letting them down in any way.

541

:

So but at the same time, he, like you

said, he was operating from where he was.

542

:

So he wanted to make sure

you were going to be okay.

543

:

I think ultimately, however,

how he expressed himself was the

544

:

opposite and it hurt me deeply,

545

:

but.

546

:

but.

547

:

I recall like when I would come down

to visit, you know, we'd always go,

548

:

you take me to EBN or we sit down and

we work in our tarot journals together

549

:

and he was always very inquisitive and

550

:

curious, which I thought was really nice.

551

:

And and I thought that, I think that's

awesome that he and your mom too Started

552

:

to open their worlds a little bit

553

:

Which just speaks to as human beings we're

constantly learning what our goal here

554

:

with this project of ours is that

we could have constantly push

555

:

ourselves to keep learning and

556

:

Trying to better understand

the world around us

557

:

:

559

:

Dive deeper into our world and

engage with us on a whole new level.

560

:

Don't miss out on the excitement.

561

:

Alexandra: I feel like that's an excellent

segue into what we're going to talk about

562

:

next in some brief overview of astrology,

crystals, tarot cards, and more.

563

:

So Christine, why don't we hit the first

564

:

Christine: okay astrology.

565

:

Okay.

566

:

Alexandra: What do you think the basics,

because this is definitely an overview

567

:

conversation.

568

:

If anyone's really interested in one

of these specific topics, please DM us.

569

:

That way we can build a whole

episode around this in the future,

570

:

Christine: Or series of episodes.

571

:

Alexandra: but what are the

true, maybe like a monthly

572

:

install.

573

:

What are the basics, a

few basics that everyone

574

:

should know about an astrology, if

you're interested in it and how do you

575

:

personally use astrology in your daily

576

:

Christine: Sure, okay.

577

:

Right off the bat, as I was thinking

about this today I just sort of think

578

:

back to funny stories I've heard where

people back in when they go to college,

579

:

they want to take they think they're

signing up for an astrology class, but

580

:

they've signed up for an astronomy class.

581

:

So I just wanted to give us a little

Astrology versus astronomy 101.

582

:

And just sort of define

what those two things are.

583

:

So astronomy is a actually a branch

of science that studies everything

584

:

outside of the earth's atmosphere.

585

:

So the universe essentially, and that is

a very vast and ever growing and expanding

586

:

place because it's infinite, which is

kind of crazy to wrap your head around.

587

:

So lots to learn from that.

588

:

And there's a whole branch

of science dedicated to it.

589

:

Now, astrology is the non scientific

practice of using the positions

590

:

of celestial objects, like the

planets, stars, et cetera, to

591

:

explain or predict human behavior.

592

:

Essentially the, sort of the foundation

for your own personal journey with

593

:

astrology starts with your birth chart.

594

:

And that is created based on

your birth date, the time you

595

:

were born and the location.

596

:

And that builds a chart to sort of

show the positions of the our universe

597

:

essentially at the time you were born.

598

:

Alexandra: And from the location in which

599

:

you were born.

600

:

Yes.

601

:

Christine: and so A lot of people also,

I'm trying to remember to keep this

602

:

very sort of, light and introductory.

603

:

A lot of people also, I think as

you mentioned, Alexandra, associate

604

:

astrology and our zodiac signs

with our sun sign, which is just

605

:

one tiny piece of the puzzle,

606

:

very tiny piece of the puzzle.

607

:

And so for instance, your

sun sign is usually dictated

608

:

on the month you were born.

609

:

Or the time of the month you were

born, because sometimes, depending

610

:

on the sign, it's the first half or

end of half could be different signs.

611

:

So for instance I was born in

December early December, so I,

612

:

my son's sign is Sagittarius.

613

:

And for Alexandra, she was born

early March, so her sign is

614

:

Alexandra: I'm a Paceys.

615

:

I'm going to make one caveat.

616

:

What we're talking about

is tropical astrology.

617

:

There's also a system of

astrology called side real.

618

:

So most ones that people know

and are in like horoscopes

619

:

go off of tropical astrology.

620

:

So that is different.

621

:

So even there's different

systems of astrology.

622

:

Christine: That is certainly where I think

both of us have a little more knowledge.

623

:

That's sort of what I've been

learning more about over the years.

624

:

But I think a great way to sort

of, if you're interested in the

625

:

realm of astrology, there are many

different resources, websites,

626

:

apps that you can download.

627

:

And you Enter in your date of birth,

time of birth, and location, and you

628

:

can get your birth chart, and from there

it will sort of lay out your different

629

:

signs, your houses and all of that, which

I will not speak too much on because

630

:

I myself don't know a whole lot, but,

Something to sort of, think about to

631

:

expand beyond your sun sign is looking

at your sun, moon and rising as a base,

632

:

your big three.

633

:

And then beyond that there,

there's more to uncover

634

:

Alexandra: No, Christine's quite

right because there's some people who

635

:

in tropical use whole house systems.

636

:

You know, wherever your

ascendant signs, that's the

637

:

sign that's in your first house.

638

:

And then they domino after that all

the way through 12, but some signs

639

:

straddle houses, which makes it.

640

:

even more complex.

641

:

So definitely would suggest starting

with your big three and slowly

642

:

building on because I don't know,

Christine, if you had this experience,

643

:

when you see your full natal chart,

you go, what the heck are all

644

:

these lines, symbols, numbers,

645

:

Christine: a funny, image.

646

:

Maybe if you're open to

it, we share our charts.

647

:

Alexandra: Sir.

648

:

Christine: to sort of so people can get

an idea of okay, what does this look like?

649

:

And then we would be happy to share

resources as to where to begin

650

:

deciphering what your chart means.

651

:

Alexandra: the big three is

Christine we're saying is the

652

:

sun, the moon and the rising end.

653

:

to explain why?

654

:

Christine: Yes, your sun, moon

and rising, your big three they

655

:

describe different parts of your

personality and your life story.

656

:

So for instance, your son, it's the symbol

of your identity, our conscious sense of

657

:

self and how we usually express ourselves.

658

:

Our moon is typically linked

to our feelings, moods,

659

:

needs, and our emotional life.

660

:

And then

661

:

Alexandra: It can also be who we are when

we are at our most comfortable as well.

662

:

Christine: absolutely.

663

:

Why don't you share with

the group are rising

664

:

Alexandra: Okay.

665

:

So the rising is the mask that we wear.

666

:

It is how we present to

new people that we meet.

667

:

For example Christine mentioned I'm a

Pisces sun, but I'm also a Scorpio rising.

668

:

So I prevent more Scorpionic to people

when they first meet me a bit more

669

:

reserved, a bit mysterious, kind of.

670

:

Also much of my personality.

671

:

And my moon is in Virgo.

672

:

And so that means I'm very

much organized, concerned about

673

:

my health, bit OCD at times.

674

:

You know, so those are.

675

:

Just the three symbols, but

you could also go into their

676

:

elements and their modalities.

677

:

And so those add other layers.

678

:

So I, the one thing I would say,

astrology is very much like an onion

679

:

in the sense of you peel one layer and

there's still so many layers to continue.

680

:

And that is what I love about this topic.

681

:

And many of the topics that we

talk about is they are layered and

682

:

definitely takes time if that's

something you want to explore.

683

:

Oh, fun fact, I had learned in one

of my many Oracle decks and deck

684

:

collections that I have, but this

one's a specific astrology one.

685

:

She was writing that when you read

your horoscopes, you shouldn't

686

:

really be reading your sun sign.

687

:

You should be reading your

ascendant sign because that's

688

:

really what it's based off of.

689

:

But if you wanted a more complete picture,

you could read your ascendant, your sun

690

:

And

691

:

Christine: moon.

692

:

Yeah, definitely.

693

:

And just because Alexandra shared

hers, my, so as I mentioned, my

694

:

sun sign Sagittarius my moon is in

Aries and my rising is in Gemini.

695

:

So when I first meet people, I

sort of come off as a a Gemini.

696

:

Very bubbly, quick witted, chatty

and then I love to sort of have,

697

:

hello, I started a podcast.

698

:

I love having conversations

and ask probing questions.

699

:

I tend to be quite curious and I

want to understand who I'm meeting.

700

:

And then also another element to,

to all of this is there's different

701

:

Elements assigned to different signs.

702

:

So they're for instance, my, my

sun sign and my moon are both

703

:

fire signs and my rising is air.

704

:

For Alexandra, she's water and earth.

705

:

And then each of the elements

are have their association.

706

:

So like fire is Relates to energy and

passion air is intellect communication,

707

:

water, emotion, and intuition.

708

:

And I believe earth is

ground grounding and.

709

:

Alexandra: Earthly and

710

:

material.

711

:

Christine: and also could be

a good connection into talking

712

:

a little bit about tarot.

713

:

In tarot, there is the

elements play a role.

714

:

Alexandra: And so do the

715

:

Christine: so does the astro, exactly.

716

:

I actually have a book called Tarot

and Astrology Enhance Your Readings

717

:

with the Wisdom of the Zodiac by

Corinne But there's many resources

718

:

on the topic related to this.

719

:

So we'll definitely share the different

resources we have found useful to us.

720

:

But yeah, that I think is a

great introduction to astrology.

721

:

Would love to dive into this

even more in another episode.

722

:

And hey, if we do an episode focused

on each of the, each different kind of

723

:

astrology, I'd learn, I'd be learning a

whole lot more, which is always fun to do.

724

:

Alexandra: I do know the big, a

big difference between tropical and

725

:

side reel is side reel acknowledges

a 13th sign called Ophiuchus.

726

:

However, that would push me into

Aries and I am not an Aries.

727

:

So

728

:

Christine: she's firm on

729

:

Alexandra: I think I'm a little

bit biased towards tropical.

730

:

Christine: But that's a

really interesting topic.

731

:

As well as how we've systematically

sort of taken that 13th symbol out

732

:

of things or even, I think a lot

of, at one point our calendar year

733

:

wasn't a 12 month calendar year.

734

:

It was some people there was

something related to 13 and there was

735

:

forget what that month was called.

736

:

Alexandra: The lunar,

737

:

what's the lunar calendar?

738

:

Which honestly, if I would totally

be up for a lunar 13 month calendar

739

:

year, because it would

be 28 days per month.

740

:

And every month would start

on a Monday and it'd be easy.

741

:

Although again, that would

maybe not a March 5th baby.

742

:

No, I probably would still be a Pisces,

but it's just, I'm like March 5th.

743

:

So everyone else's birthday can

change, but mine, no, I'm kidding.

744

:

Christine: You're just

very connected to it.

745

:

But yes, I encourage you all to

sort of discover more about your

746

:

individual sign big three start there.

747

:

And yeah,

748

:

Alexandra: particularly don't

really connect with your sun sign.

749

:

Exploring what else is in your chart might

explain, maybe you have a sun, like a fire

750

:

sun, but you have so much water and

earth in your chart that you're like,

751

:

oh, this is why I don't necessarily feel

like an Aries or a Sagittarius or a Leo.

752

:

So I would make that caveat.

753

:

Christine: definitely.

754

:

Alexandra: Alrighty.

755

:

So let's, as we've spent some time

on that, let's jump into crystals.

756

:

I know Christina and I both have an

interest in crystals, but you had

757

:

mentioned that a little bit earlier.

758

:

What are the popular crystals that you

like and again, how do you incorporate

759

:

them into your daily routine?

760

:

Christine: I mean, my journey

sort of started, I started

761

:

with I didn't have a very.

762

:

Vast knowledge when it came to crystals

and their different properties, so I was

763

:

going based on color in the beginning

And my favorite colors are purple and

764

:

blues, so I'm drawn to a lot of those

different crystals and so starting out

765

:

Amethyst was a favorite crystal of mine.

766

:

Rose Quartz, Smoky Quartz Soledite

is the crystal of Sagittarius.

767

:

So that is a blue crystal.

768

:

So I have a lot of, I have them

in a lot of different ways.

769

:

I have them in jewelry.

770

:

I have them in polished pebbles

that I could carry with me.

771

:

I like to make a little bag of

crystals that I pick out for

772

:

different reasons to carry with me.

773

:

And then I've also got a pillars and

larger crystals to sort of help in my home

774

:

and cleansing space or boosting certain

energy And that's sort of where I started.

775

:

But Alexandra is really the one I

turned to and on this topic, because

776

:

this is a big passion of hers.

777

:

And you know, can I mention that her

small business that she's working on sort

778

:

of revolves around this realm of things.

779

:

So I certainly turned to her

when I want to learn more.

780

:

So Alexandra, why don't you share?

781

:

Alexandra: Okay.

782

:

So Christine mentioned some really well

known amethyst rose quartz actually

783

:

I wouldn't say smoky quartz is as

well known as maybe it ought to be.

784

:

I'm trying to think,

785

:

Christine: There's clear courts,

which I think a lot of people, yeah.

786

:

Alexandra: Clear quartz is

known as a master healer.

787

:

It's also a great amplifying stone.

788

:

There's something called crystal grids.

789

:

If you want to send energy and

intention to a specific goal

790

:

manifestation person that's a great way.

791

:

Clear quartz points are a

good way to amplify energy

792

:

in or out of a crystal grid.

793

:

I mean, there's so much, again, this

is one of those things that people

794

:

can go, Oh, crystals, what do they do?

795

:

And honestly, sometimes you can look at a

crystal and be like, that's just pretty.

796

:

And let it be that.

797

:

Um, but if you're

798

:

Christine: Sorry, I didn't

interject really quick.

799

:

There is people who just solely

are interested in crystals because

800

:

they are for the fact that they

are gemstones and rocks and the,

801

:

yeah, the geological aspect of it.

802

:

Alexandra: That is totally okay.

803

:

I mean, that's awesome.

804

:

Christine: Yeah.

805

:

Alexandra: Now, if you're interested

in metaphysical properties the

806

:

crystal Bible by Judy Hall or Judy

Hall's books are really probably

807

:

great primers for this information.

808

:

Things I certainly go to.

809

:

And then of course, beyond that,

there are even more books that are

810

:

Christine: Yeah,

811

:

Alexandra: a little medicine.

812

:

Christine: I personally have a

book by Mariah Lyons called Crystal

813

:

Healing for Women, a modern guide

to the power of crystals for renewed

814

:

energy, strength and wellness.

815

:

And it has a guide to the different A to

Z sort of what crystals are out there.

816

:

And then it gives also rituals that

you can use with your, with the

817

:

crystals, which I think is very helpful.

818

:

Alexandra: That's pretty cool.

819

:

So actually Christine, what you

mentioned, the starting with the

820

:

colors, that's actually a really

great place to start with crystals

821

:

if you're interested in this.

822

:

So if you're, if you know about the chakra

systems, the seven embodied chakras,

823

:

they're associated with specific colors.

824

:

Specifically, you mentioned purple,

which it can be associated depending

825

:

on what colors you use, either the

brow third eye or the crown chakra.

826

:

And so if you want to work on certain

areas of your body or like your legs, or

827

:

you have issues with stability, working

with the root chakra and therefore red

828

:

crystals is a great place to start.

829

:

So if people don't know a whole

lot, but they're not really ready

830

:

to dive into specific meetings.

831

:

I would just point them to it

and okay, you're, you need to

832

:

work with your sacral chakra.

833

:

Cause that's something you're focused

on, go towards orange crystals and

834

:

then pick up the tags and read them

and see what you gravitate towards.

835

:

But I love smoky courts and

terminated courts is really great

836

:

for transmuting negative old energy

out of your life, which is awesome.

837

:

And I've got myself a little collection.

838

:

You know, ranging from pieces that I use

for chakra healing and crystal healing

839

:

on myself to, you know, pieces that I

sit and hold with to ground to pieces

840

:

that I'm like, Oh yeah, I just want to

tuck that in my bra or my pants pocket

841

:

to carry with me to hold that space.

842

:

And as, as a touchstone, a tool

to remember, this is something

843

:

I'm choosing to work on.

844

:

Whatever it be with its, you

know, balance, health patience.

845

:

Those are, they're all things

intuitive psychic energy work as well.

846

:

So I feel like

847

:

that's a, but Judy Hall, the book that

Christine mentioned, those are but

848

:

definitely Judy Hall is a great primer.

849

:

Her crystal bibles, one through

three, kind of one goes through most

850

:

common two and three kind of getting

through the less common crystals,

851

:

Christine: All righty.

852

:

Okay why don't we move on to card reading?

853

:

Okay, Alexandra, you're

my go to gal for this.

854

:

How does card reading work, and can you

tell us the differences between tarot,

855

:

oracle, this word that I cannot pronounce?

856

:

Alexandra: the Norman and eaching.

857

:

Okay.

858

:

So I was like, I'm so excited for this.

859

:

This totally could be a full episode

and I would love to do that sometime.

860

:

So briefly Tarot will is only

Tarot, like in the sense of

861

:

Tarot will always have 78 cards.

862

:

There are like five houses or five suits.

863

:

There's the split into two parts,

the major arcana, which you could

864

:

count as quote unquote one suit.

865

:

And that's cards zero through 21.

866

:

So the full through the world.

867

:

And then there are four minor

arcana suits, and that is wands,

868

:

pentacles cups and swords.

869

:

And as Christine mentioned earlier,

there's association with elements and

870

:

then therefore the astrological science.

871

:

So swords are air cups are water,

pentacles are earth, and wands are fire.

872

:

So there's a lot within that.

873

:

And then each.

874

:

Major arcane or many of the major arcana

cards have an astrological association.

875

:

Like cancer is the chariot.

876

:

Virgo is the hermit.

877

:

Pisces is the moon.

878

:

So there's really cool things

around that as well to interpret.

879

:

I'm trying to make sure

I hit all the big points.

880

:

Book of tarot will really

only ever have 78 cards.

881

:

You'll see some tarot esque decks that

are 78 plus an additional one or two

882

:

that the author or artists have added.

883

:

The ethereal visions

tarot I know does that.

884

:

I could go on for days about

Tarot, so I'm trying to figure

885

:

out how to keep this brief.

886

:

I mean, there's a lot of associations

with that and ways to deepen

887

:

your reading within Tarot beyond

that there are Oracle cards.

888

:

So it's kind of like in the sense that.

889

:

All Catholics are Christians,

but all Christians are Catholics.

890

:

They're, I guess you could loosely

say tarot decks are oracle decks in

891

:

the sense that they can be used for

divination, but very specific to tarot.

892

:

Oracle decks can range from I

think I've seen 44 cards up to 80.

893

:

Some depends.

894

:

And they can range on different

topics, like specifically

895

:

crystals astrology, oh, flowers.

896

:

I'm trying to look at the ones I have.

897

:

I've got one called Enchanted

Blossoms, Roses Animal Spirits.

898

:

I mean, there's so many different types

of Oracle decks that are out there.

899

:

And really kind of being whatever drawn.

900

:

And there's no one right

way to read Oracle.

901

:

You can read them with

reversals, without reversals.

902

:

Some tarot readers only read Oracle.

903

:

uprights don't read reversals, others do.

904

:

And so it's kind of a bit of a dealer's

choice in that one in the sense, but

905

:

go towards topics that

you're interested in.

906

:

I'm pretty sure if you're interested

in something specific like angels,

907

:

there are Tons of Oracle decks

908

:

out there.

909

:

If you're interested in astrology, there

are tons of Oracle decks out there.

910

:

If you like a specific type of artwork,

there's tons of Oracle decks out there.

911

:

And tarot decks.

912

:

I mean, there's so many.

913

:

And one of my favorite that I've

recently learned probably in the

914

:

past two years is called Lenormand.

915

:

And that's comes from named after.

916

:

Madame Lenormand, who is a French reader,

I cannot place, at the time, we actually

917

:

don't know if she read what we know as the

Lenormand deck, but it's named after her.

918

:

It's also called the the

petit jeu so the little game.

919

:

So that's a really fun

system to work with.

920

:

That one is always 36 cards

and has specific meanings for

921

:

each card, which is great.

922

:

I mean, I've heard people refer to

sometimes poker cards as gypsy cards,

923

:

but the gypsy cards might be different.

924

:

Please fact check.

925

:

And then I Ching is something I've heard

about, have an interest in learning,

926

:

but actually don't know much about.

927

:

So I won't really talk about it,

but they're different systems.

928

:

Cards can be used as tools for self

discovery work on yourself divination

929

:

about a situation and the future.

930

:

When I read for people, I really enjoy

using it as a tool and for them to help

931

:

figure out where they want to go by

taking an active part in the reading.

932

:

I'm not a huge fan of when people

are like, I'm just going to sit down

933

:

and test you and see what you can

do because I don't really believe

934

:

in this and I'm like, okay, if you

don't, then you're going to get out

935

:

of this reading what you want to get.

936

:

But all of these things,

astrology, crystals, cards, are

937

:

all good tools that you can use.

938

:

On your journey of self discovery

or just in your life journey to

939

:

help get clarity touchstones is

like what you want to work on.

940

:

I mean, there's so many different ways

and I could go into about how you read

941

:

cards, which I think that would be a

whole other hour long conversation.

942

:

I mean, that's the basic just kind of

the overview between the different ones.

943

:

But yeah, I.

944

:

really could talk about it

going on, and I'm really trying

945

:

hard to contain my excitement.

946

:

So I'm going to put a, put in that

one for later, but that's just,

947

:

Generally, so you can daily use.

948

:

I mean, you could do a daily card pool.

949

:

You could do longer spreads

short spreads, week long spread,

950

:

like whatever you want to do.

951

:

There's so much out there.

952

:

So many different resources within

the different guidebooks online people

953

:

that, you know, but if you're brand new.

954

:

To reading tarot, I'm going to

strongly recommend you don't

955

:

start with a Celtic cross reading.

956

:

Christine: No that's a lot.

957

:

Alexandra: I think Christine

started to read one and I was like,

958

:

why are you trying to read that?

959

:

Christine: maybe I was,

960

:

Alexandra: I was like, it's not that you

can't, some people are very intuitive

961

:

and can get it, but it's just, it

can be a very difficult spread and

962

:

be very it can just make it not fun

in the sense that you don't want to

963

:

keep going because it's so difficult.

964

:

It can be so difficult.

965

:

Christine: I think a good a good tip.

966

:

Would be if you have an interest, just

sort of pick up the cards and before you

967

:

even start learning about it, just look

at the cards, look at the artwork sort

968

:

of, see what comes up for you as you're

looking at it how you might interpret it

969

:

without even really knowing much about it.

970

:

It might surprise you to sort of

see just intuitively how much you're

971

:

able to pick up from just looking

at them without knowing any other

972

:

meaning behind the different cards.

973

:

Alexandra: Particularly do that, and

then you go look at the guidebook.

974

:

Most of the Tarot that we use today

is based off of the Rider Waite

975

:

Smith deck and their interpretations.

976

:

So that is always a good starting

point for Tarot, I will say.

977

:

Christine: Yes.

978

:

Definitely.

979

:

All right.

980

:

Why don't we sort of close out this

section by talking a little bit

981

:

about energy healing practices and

psychic development, Alexandra.

982

:

Take us away.

983

:

Alexandra: Again, there's so much.

984

:

So energy healing is kind of a broad

spectrum in the sense of, that could

985

:

be, shamanic healing that could be

light language healing that could

986

:

include, I mean, Akashic record

reading to clarify current problems,

987

:

working with your own spirit team

crystal energy healing, chakra healing.

988

:

I mean, like there's so much that

you can do with energy healing

989

:

sound healing, which is the use of

like crystal singing bowls, Tibetan

990

:

singing bowls, so many different

instruments, like drums, be drums.

991

:

So it's a way to move energy in

and around you, which is amazing.

992

:

And then intuitive psychic

development is, it's a choice.

993

:

It's a practice.

994

:

And anyone can do it really.

995

:

I mean, it's not set aside for

a specific group of people.

996

:

There's different traditions.

997

:

You might look into like

your heritage traditions and

998

:

see if that calls to you or.

999

:

If you see something somewhere, you're

like, Hey, I'm interested in that.

:

00:53:16,787 --> 00:53:17,967

Go see if you can learn about it.

:

00:53:18,467 --> 00:53:21,597

But yeah, there's so many different

avenues again that we can get into.

:

00:53:23,147 --> 00:53:28,497

But yeah that would be just kind of

feeling into what feels right for you.

:

00:53:28,907 --> 00:53:34,447

But a psychic development is

awesome, which really starts

:

00:53:34,447 --> 00:53:35,597

with intuitive development.

:

00:53:36,077 --> 00:53:38,277

I think, and that is practice.

:

00:53:38,617 --> 00:53:39,927

It really takes practice.

:

00:53:40,682 --> 00:53:44,422

So little things every

day to the bigger things.

:

00:53:44,452 --> 00:53:45,582

So that's where I would start.

:

00:53:45,982 --> 00:53:49,122

And I know that's not a super helpful

answer, but Christine, what is

:

00:53:49,212 --> 00:53:53,552

your take on energy healing or what

you've done on psychic development?

:

00:53:54,617 --> 00:53:59,277

Christine: Well, I personally, I

think we're parallel on this as well.

:

00:53:59,627 --> 00:54:04,497

I have found, I've found an

interest for sound healing.

:

00:54:04,837 --> 00:54:07,067

I just think we talked a little bit.

:

00:54:07,422 --> 00:54:12,042

In our last episode, when we were talking

about music, I really do believe that

:

00:54:12,062 --> 00:54:18,922

on a very Basic level sound frequency

affects us in such a monumental way.

:

00:54:18,922 --> 00:54:23,392

And everything around us has a frequency,

whether it's like audible or not.

:

00:54:23,862 --> 00:54:26,892

So for me, I do truly believe in that.

:

00:54:26,892 --> 00:54:31,122

It's I do believe in the healing

practices around sound healing.

:

00:54:31,512 --> 00:54:33,522

It's, it can be very meditative.

:

00:54:33,522 --> 00:54:35,162

It can be healing.

:

00:54:35,662 --> 00:54:38,062

That for me is an area of

interest that I want to.

:

00:54:38,329 --> 00:54:42,499

Discover more and in terms of psychic

development, I guess, it's an area

:

00:54:42,499 --> 00:54:46,815

that I haven't done a whole lot in,

but I feel like I have a very sort of.

:

00:54:47,315 --> 00:54:51,685

Quite intuitive and I do sort

of recognize different messages

:

00:54:51,725 --> 00:54:53,335

from the universe if you will.

:

00:54:53,365 --> 00:54:59,995

So I'm very aware of it, particularly

whether that comes across through numbers

:

00:55:00,015 --> 00:55:05,755

or you know, just little signs like

I see for me and my family, if we see

:

00:55:05,755 --> 00:55:08,085

a blue J that is significant for us.

:

00:55:08,545 --> 00:55:13,125

I'm definitely sort of aware of all

of that, but I think that's an area

:

00:55:13,125 --> 00:55:14,895

that I want to sort of develop more.

:

00:55:15,305 --> 00:55:15,635

Yeah,

:

00:55:16,610 --> 00:55:18,650

Alexandra: Gosh, we didn't

even talk about numerology

:

00:55:19,010 --> 00:55:21,760

and I can't believe in energy healing.

:

00:55:21,850 --> 00:55:22,990

I didn't even talk about Reiki.

:

00:55:22,990 --> 00:55:24,730

I didn't even mention

Reiki, but Reiki is a

:

00:55:24,900 --> 00:55:25,720

healing practice.

:

00:55:25,835 --> 00:55:26,465

Christine: very true.

:

00:55:26,965 --> 00:55:30,035

I personally have done intuitive readings.

:

00:55:30,075 --> 00:55:32,335

I've done past life regression work.

:

00:55:32,375 --> 00:55:36,365

I've done energy healing

or energy readings.

:

00:55:36,465 --> 00:55:42,365

So it's all very fascinating and I walk

away from it learning a lot about myself.

:

00:55:42,475 --> 00:55:47,635

And it, it tends to be quite helpful

in sort of me if I'm at a crossroads or

:

00:55:48,185 --> 00:55:50,295

if I feel like I'm stuck in some area.

:

00:55:50,395 --> 00:55:53,125

Yeah, again, this is this can be a whole

:

00:55:53,655 --> 00:55:54,965

Alexandra: We were just scratching

:

00:55:55,185 --> 00:55:59,605

Christine: Yeah, this is a whole I

mean, people dedicate their lives to

:

00:55:59,605 --> 00:56:02,295

the, to each of these different topics.

:

00:56:02,315 --> 00:56:07,025

Not as a whole, like astrology,

tarot, like they're people's lives

:

00:56:07,025 --> 00:56:08,915

work that they concentrate on solely.

:

00:56:09,005 --> 00:56:10,685

We're really just giving you the,

:

00:56:10,740 --> 00:56:15,370

Alexandra: I will say out of energy

and sound healing you may not leave a

:

00:56:15,400 --> 00:56:18,230

session feeling great and that is okay.

:

00:56:18,230 --> 00:56:19,390

It doesn't mean it hasn't worked.

:

00:56:19,420 --> 00:56:21,050

It's just working through your body.

:

00:56:21,500 --> 00:56:24,230

Cause I've left, I've gone into

a sound healing with a headache

:

00:56:24,230 --> 00:56:25,260

and left without a headache.

:

00:56:25,610 --> 00:56:27,930

I've gone into a sound healing

session without a headache

:

00:56:27,960 --> 00:56:29,520

and I've left with a headache.

:

00:56:30,100 --> 00:56:31,810

And then the next day I'm

like, okay, I feel good.

:

00:56:32,150 --> 00:56:36,390

So there's different, I will say sometimes

you have different physical reactions.

:

00:56:36,770 --> 00:56:37,360

Each time.

:

00:56:37,580 --> 00:56:40,670

That is something to be aware of if

you do it, it's not that it hasn't

:

00:56:40,680 --> 00:56:44,270

worked, but you may experience different

symptoms or reactions every time.

:

00:56:44,980 --> 00:56:45,700

Christine: Absolutely.

:

00:56:46,985 --> 00:56:47,755

Alexandra: or have a great nap,

:

00:56:48,460 --> 00:56:48,960

Christine: That too.

:

00:56:49,175 --> 00:56:50,555

Alexandra: which is true, which is good.

:

00:56:51,745 --> 00:56:52,565

Christine: Absolutely.

:

00:56:52,615 --> 00:56:53,365

Alrighty.

:

00:56:53,465 --> 00:56:58,215

Why don't we sort of start wrapping this

up here and go into our next section okay.

:

00:56:58,895 --> 00:57:03,885

How do we individually apply these

concepts and practices in our lives?

:

00:57:03,885 --> 00:57:05,085

Why don't you start us off?

:

00:57:05,085 --> 00:57:09,430

Yeah.

:

00:57:09,625 --> 00:57:10,715

Alexandra: read cards.

:

00:57:10,955 --> 00:57:12,885

So that is something

I choose to work with.

:

00:57:12,935 --> 00:57:15,645

Within that, I, when I get a

new deck, I really do try to

:

00:57:15,655 --> 00:57:17,325

sit down and read the guidebook.

:

00:57:17,705 --> 00:57:20,305

A goal of mine when I have a little

bit more time is actually to sit and

:

00:57:20,305 --> 00:57:21,615

read through all of my guidebooks.

:

00:57:21,665 --> 00:57:27,020

Kind of every time I read something and

I love reading different authors artists

:

00:57:27,020 --> 00:57:30,590

or authors interpretations of tarot,

sometimes something just sticks in the

:

00:57:30,590 --> 00:57:33,670

way another person's doesn't or reading.

:

00:57:34,370 --> 00:57:38,400

guidebooks from Dex about astrology

can help expand and prime me for

:

00:57:38,760 --> 00:57:41,530

delving more into astrology, which

is something I also want to explore,

:

00:57:42,590 --> 00:57:44,980

not explore, but delve more into.

:

00:57:44,980 --> 00:57:47,500

Cause I think I've done a lot

of exploration on these topics

:

00:57:47,620 --> 00:57:50,830

and it's now moving into that

phase of really exploring.

:

00:57:51,265 --> 00:57:57,015

Getting into the nitty gritty and

developing my knowledge base more.

:

00:57:57,975 --> 00:58:03,425

So that's something, astrology,

obviously tarot, I mean, I'm a

:

00:58:03,425 --> 00:58:06,355

nut for tarot I could read a book

about tarot any day of the week.

:

00:58:06,745 --> 00:58:07,845

I love to learn about it.

:

00:58:08,355 --> 00:58:13,225

So those two crystals, obviously

I do have my Reiki level two.

:

00:58:13,315 --> 00:58:17,025

So pursuing that, I have my sound

healing certification level two.

:

00:58:17,025 --> 00:58:18,205

I'd like to pursue that further.

:

00:58:18,545 --> 00:58:21,725

I'd like to learn more about and

get into Akashic record reading

:

00:58:21,755 --> 00:58:23,695

and as well as light language.

:

00:58:24,265 --> 00:58:25,425

, those are some areas.

:

00:58:26,430 --> 00:58:29,100

That I want to do practical

applications every day.

:

00:58:30,070 --> 00:58:33,420

Weirdly, I have not done a reading

for myself in quite a while.

:

00:58:33,710 --> 00:58:35,740

It's very difficult.

:

00:58:35,770 --> 00:58:40,420

It can be very difficult for people to

read for themselves because we can be very

:

00:58:40,420 --> 00:58:42,390

attached to wanting a specific outcome.

:

00:58:42,840 --> 00:58:44,820

So it makes it more

difficult to be objective.

:

00:58:45,360 --> 00:58:49,080

It is much easier for many people and

for me included to read for others

:

00:58:49,130 --> 00:58:53,895

because I have little to no attachment

to the outcome of their reading.

:

00:58:53,945 --> 00:58:57,265

So it's a lot easier for

information, good, and maybe

:

00:58:57,545 --> 00:58:59,015

not so happy to come through.

:

00:58:59,365 --> 00:59:04,165

So like to pull that practice back in

for myself working with crystals, my

:

00:59:04,165 --> 00:59:10,140

sound bowls but my mentor, I saw her

this past weekend and it was We were

:

00:59:10,140 --> 00:59:16,340

talking about gratitude and manifestation

and kind of that manifestation

:

00:59:16,340 --> 00:59:18,100

doesn't necessarily come from thought.

:

00:59:18,390 --> 00:59:20,880

So you'll hear a lot of

statements about I am, I did it.

:

00:59:21,560 --> 00:59:24,640

And there's some thoughts of I

am is very much a root chakra

:

00:59:24,640 --> 00:59:27,030

statement and there's different ways.

:

00:59:27,400 --> 00:59:30,540

So I am, I feel for my sake role.

:

00:59:31,330 --> 00:59:33,705

I have for my solar plexus.

:

00:59:34,485 --> 00:59:35,775

I love for my heart.

:

00:59:35,815 --> 00:59:37,125

I speak for my throat.

:

00:59:37,225 --> 00:59:41,105

I see for my third eye and

I know for my crown and kind

:

00:59:41,105 --> 00:59:42,755

of changing your statements.

:

00:59:42,975 --> 00:59:46,717

But a lot of that comes from an

unconscious thought, which then my

:

00:59:46,717 --> 00:59:50,497

mentor said comes into emotion and

we actually manifest from emotion.

:

00:59:51,137 --> 00:59:55,011

So just saying I am an easy low

hanging fruit, I am abundant.

:

00:59:55,551 --> 00:59:59,771

Well, if you've never felt abundant or you

don't feel abundant, it can be very hard

:

00:59:59,771 --> 01:00:01,181

to say, I'm abundant, and have it happen.

:

01:00:01,681 --> 01:00:06,221

So kind of working on the imagination

and creating that feeling, evoking

:

01:00:06,221 --> 01:00:08,541

that feeling to then, Drive.

:

01:00:08,551 --> 01:00:12,371

Some of that manifestation is something

that I would like to focus a little

:

01:00:12,371 --> 01:00:15,811

more energy on through Actionable steps.

:

01:00:15,951 --> 01:00:20,891

But also she likes to say I think

she said she heard it from somebody

:

01:00:20,891 --> 01:00:26,102

else energy flows where focus goes

So that's a good statement for

:

01:00:26,102 --> 01:00:27,242

anyone interested in something.

:

01:00:27,826 --> 01:00:31,646

You don't just wake up one day and

now energy flows where focus goes

:

01:00:33,151 --> 01:00:33,941

Christine: Absolutely.

:

01:00:34,181 --> 01:00:35,391

That's very, that, wow.

:

01:00:36,691 --> 01:00:39,261

That just really hit me

based on the week I've had.

:

01:00:39,301 --> 01:00:44,617

But, anyway I do tarot

and Oracle as well.

:

01:00:44,617 --> 01:00:49,317

I think I lean more towards Oracle

currently, but definitely have a

:

01:00:49,317 --> 01:00:53,247

very I have a burning desire to

understand the world of tarot more.

:

01:00:53,671 --> 01:00:59,737

I am very much connected to crystals

and sort of the ritual aspect of of

:

01:00:59,747 --> 01:01:05,915

using crystals or using card readings

to sort of have a, help me, you know,

:

01:01:06,062 --> 01:01:08,362

work through whatever I'm going through.

:

01:01:08,412 --> 01:01:12,812

Alexandra kindly sometimes does

readings for me to help me try and work

:

01:01:12,812 --> 01:01:14,742

through anything I'm going through.

:

01:01:15,062 --> 01:01:18,632

I myself want to become

a certified sound healer.

:

01:01:18,682 --> 01:01:20,952

Perhaps that will be a goal for next year.

:

01:01:21,252 --> 01:01:27,088

And as I mentioned earlier in the episode

this is a journey that has ebbs and flows.

:

01:01:27,238 --> 01:01:32,748

And depending on how crazy life or the

world around you gets, at least for

:

01:01:32,748 --> 01:01:34,858

me can sometimes affect where I'm at.

:

01:01:34,908 --> 01:01:39,058

And I hope to sort of just find my

way back and continue moving forward.

:

01:01:39,240 --> 01:01:39,958

But yeah

:

01:01:40,008 --> 01:01:40,428

Alexandra: Okay.

:

01:01:40,868 --> 01:01:45,808

So do we want to wrap up this episode

by briefly mentioning some resources?

:

01:01:45,808 --> 01:01:49,008

I know we've mentioned and dropped

a few throughout the episode

:

01:01:49,008 --> 01:01:52,768

here today, but what do you, what

resources do you have for people?

:

01:01:52,813 --> 01:01:53,373

Christine: sure.

:

01:01:53,403 --> 01:01:58,953

When it comes to astrology, I have found a

great resource in a woman named Crystal B.

:

01:01:58,983 --> 01:02:02,803

You can find her on Instagram

at Crystal B Astrology.

:

01:02:02,823 --> 01:02:04,993

She's actually local to where I live.

:

01:02:05,453 --> 01:02:07,123

But she has quite a big following.

:

01:02:07,133 --> 01:02:13,105

And she, a few years ago, published

a book called Feed Your Moon.

:

01:02:13,755 --> 01:02:16,895

Predictive and Mindful

Astrology One Phase at a Time.

:

01:02:17,265 --> 01:02:19,361

But She's just great.

:

01:02:19,361 --> 01:02:21,831

I've done, she's done readings for me.

:

01:02:21,931 --> 01:02:26,421

We actually, my, for my birthday

one year, my mom put together a

:

01:02:26,421 --> 01:02:27,781

party where she invited people.

:

01:02:28,431 --> 01:02:30,391

Crystal to come and did

readings for everyone.

:

01:02:30,741 --> 01:02:35,171

I've done past life regressions with

her, which are quite fascinating.

:

01:02:35,231 --> 01:02:38,993

And I would perhaps even

love to have her on the show.

:

01:02:39,043 --> 01:02:44,446

At some point to sort of talk about all

of this in terms of other resources, I've

:

01:02:44,446 --> 01:02:48,946

been working my way through a book called

the green witch, your complete guide

:

01:02:48,976 --> 01:02:54,356

to the natural magic of herbs, flowers,

essential oils, and more by Aaron Murphy.

:

01:02:54,439 --> 01:02:55,199

His cock.

:

01:02:55,639 --> 01:02:57,169

I quite enjoy this book.

:

01:02:57,269 --> 01:03:00,369

I'm still not done with it yet,

but I definitely have connected

:

01:03:00,369 --> 01:03:05,656

with the practice of being the

green, which And alexandra, why

:

01:03:05,656 --> 01:03:07,656

don't you share what you have?

:

01:03:08,170 --> 01:03:08,590

Alexandra: Okay.

:

01:03:08,710 --> 01:03:14,312

So since you started with astrology,

I will to Debbie Kempton Smith wrote

:

01:03:14,312 --> 01:03:16,132

a book, which I have not made it.

:

01:03:16,727 --> 01:03:20,891

Nearly enough through is called

secrets from a stargazer's notebook

:

01:03:21,371 --> 01:03:23,701

while making astrology work for you.

:

01:03:23,811 --> 01:03:28,041

So that's a pretty good primer

on what I've been told and

:

01:03:28,041 --> 01:03:28,891

I'm working my way through it.

:

01:03:29,251 --> 01:03:30,311

There are many different apps.

:

01:03:30,311 --> 01:03:33,841

I know Christine and I both use co

star if you want to get some brief.

:

01:03:34,076 --> 01:03:36,686

Kind of summary, cafeastrology.

:

01:03:36,686 --> 01:03:38,236

com is a really good one.

:

01:03:38,296 --> 01:03:42,273

If you want to learn more about your

natal chart without it being super

:

01:03:42,273 --> 01:03:47,787

crazy without, and by crazy, I mean,

without delving so far into some of the

:

01:03:47,797 --> 01:03:53,087

minutia of stuff that you can dig deeper

than just your sun sign, but you don't

:

01:03:53,097 --> 01:03:57,557

necessarily have to get into like trines

and squares and oppositions of different.

:

01:03:57,862 --> 01:04:01,612

Things or I don't know that it

mentioned so much all of the asteroids.

:

01:04:01,612 --> 01:04:05,082

I think it really only

mentions the Lilith sign.

:

01:04:05,642 --> 01:04:08,632

But astroseek.

:

01:04:08,632 --> 01:04:11,732

com does get a little bit further

into some of those things with

:

01:04:11,732 --> 01:04:13,282

a more detailed natal chart.

:

01:04:13,672 --> 01:04:15,952

So those would be my astrology go tos.

:

01:04:16,412 --> 01:04:18,221

We mentioned Judy Hall for crystal.

:

01:04:18,272 --> 01:04:19,952

Literally her books are great.

:

01:04:19,992 --> 01:04:20,862

Good starting points.

:

01:04:21,452 --> 01:04:24,892

And then when it comes to reading

on many or any of these topics,

:

01:04:25,402 --> 01:04:28,741

some of my favorite publishers

are Hay House Publishing.

:

01:04:28,811 --> 01:04:29,691

You'll always hear me say that.

:

01:04:30,031 --> 01:04:31,461

Louise Hay's work really good.

:

01:04:31,801 --> 01:04:36,131

But a lot of the authors who are

published through them have great

:

01:04:36,131 --> 01:04:40,701

knowledge in things like angels,

astrology space cleaning, clearing,

:

01:04:40,701 --> 01:04:42,081

you know, so different things.

:

01:04:42,501 --> 01:04:46,441

Llewellyn worldwide, Blue Angel

Publishing, Los Carbos, U.

:

01:04:46,441 --> 01:04:47,181

S., even U.

:

01:04:47,181 --> 01:04:47,281

S.

:

01:04:47,281 --> 01:04:52,241

Game Systems and Labyrinthos all

have really good, different, Decks,

:

01:04:52,491 --> 01:04:53,781

which come with good guidebooks.

:

01:04:53,811 --> 01:04:56,971

They also published and a

blue angel publishes Llewellyn

:

01:04:56,971 --> 01:04:57,981

publishes different books.

:

01:04:58,371 --> 01:05:01,261

So I would definitely recommend

checking out their catalogs.

:

01:05:01,291 --> 01:05:05,691

And if you're interested in different

decks, look at Etsy, look at just

:

01:05:05,871 --> 01:05:09,571

do a search for different things,

or you'll find a lot out there.

:

01:05:09,601 --> 01:05:14,001

I mean, independent artists to

who've reworked traditional decks.

:

01:05:15,096 --> 01:05:15,696

In a new way.

:

01:05:15,896 --> 01:05:19,790

So there's literally so much

out there that's it for today.
